Devlin is a seventeen year old who is found unconsious in the back of a K-mart. Jake is the ALS worker on duty when they get the call that there is an unconsious person. All battered and bruised, Jake cannot believe what he is seeing. When she opens her eyes, Jake is the first person she sees and they make a connection. Jake stays by Devlins side until she gets better. They both feel a strong attraction to each other but Jake will not hold Devlin back from her future. Years later, Devlin and Jake meet once again but this time they are free to show their feelings to one another. Can they get over the circumstances of the past? What does their future hold?

This book kept me on my toes and longing for the characters to get together. Devlin was a hurt little girl when Jake found her and now she is all woman. I loved how loyal and strong Jake was. He was willing to wait for what he wanted and he wouldn't take advantage of Devlin no matter what. They held such a strong connection throughout the book. They didn't need words to express how they felt. Julia Barrett made this such an exciting and comical read. I would highly recommend this book to those who love suspense and an extremely romantic read. I wish this book went on longer.

  1. Thank you so much for the lovely review. The characters in this book, my first romance novel, meant so much to me! I felt like I knew them inside and out. I'm glad you caught the comic scenes too! Julia

  2. Julia Barrett is a fabulous author! I love her books.
