The long awaited next book in Kresley Cole’s Immortals After Dark series has finally arrived. Stepping up to find his female is Rydstrom Woede the deposed king of Rage Demons, known for his rational approach to everything and never lying. The last time readers saw Rydstrom he had just escaped and brought his captor Sabine with him. In this book we see what happened while he was captured and some of the scenes in Dark Desires After Dusk from a new perspective. Sabine is the Queen of Illusions and has a passing acquaintance with telling the truth. Instead of the usual external plot driving this book, Rydstrom and Sabine’s story focus more on the two of them and their negotiating their differences.
Kiss of A Demon King didn’t enthrall me as much as the previous books in the series. However, that could be simply the fact that Rydstrom has never stuck with me as a character. Not that he’s a bad character, just not one that called to me as much as say his brother Cade. However, Sabine makes up for any shortcomings that Rydstrom has for me. The other charm of the book is seeing what is happening elsewhere while the events in Dark Desires takes place.
