Jayne Seatoun is content with her life but feels an unexplainable urge to visit an old crypt littered with old bones and so much history. She finds herself compelled to remain and explore the ruins all the while hearing a mysterious voice remark in wonder at her return to him. Little does she know how remaining in the crypt for much longer will change her life forever.
Lord Callum Broderick is on his way home after being gone to battle for the king. He is tired, dirty and the last thing he needs is to help a lost soul along the way. His fondest wish is to return safely to his home and be among his family. Well, best laid plans and all that, he has a major detour afoot.
The book entails time travel and how love reaches across the span of time and finds its one true love. The main characters are well-written. Jayne is a most delightful character. I found myself laughing and crying with her throughout the book. I appreciated her wit and humor in all the ridiculous situations in which she found herself. The character of Callum was a bit mysterious at first. It was difficult to read his feelings about Jayne but the reader will definitely warm up to him once the foundation is laid that reveals all of his traits and flaws. He is a loyal family man who needs a strong dose of reality in an unreal situation to make him realize what is most important of all. The author writes detailed accounts of the scenery, the clothing and even the vernacular. It was a quick and wonderful read, and I am very much looking forward to reading more from this author hopefully in the same vein. A stupendous job!
