Pete is used to his own little world. He throws his headphones on and goes through his day working on his computer. Even his boss knows, if he wants something, just email it. Pete detests any kind of interaction with others, so it surprises him when Chloe, a new coworker, just keeps on bothering him with questions about how to do this or that. She sits with him at lunch and refuses to shut up. She refuses to just email him any questions, opting instead to poke him in the arm with her bony little fingers. When he is invited by Chloe to a bar to watch her sing, it alarms Pete to know that he says yes. At the bar, he is pleasantly surprised to see a very different side of Chloe as she sings him a song. After the set, Chloe and Pete go to his apartment and for the first time in his life, a woman comes on to him and shows him a world that he has never experienced before. For once in his life, he can see something other than music in his life, and her name is Chloe. Although not as well developed as I would have hoped, the humor is the highlight in this book for me. It lacked a substantial story life and I kept waiting for something big thing to happen. The humor of the story though, carried the book. I just adore Chloe's quick wit and banter. She is a feisty gal that will not take no for an answer. Pete on the other hand is the polar opposite of Chloe. Moody, private and cut off from the world through his music. I enjoyed finding out how Chloe breaks through Pete's barriers and shows him a whole other world. Victoria Blisse is a very humorous writer and I look forward to reading more books from her.
