Never did Anne Michaels imagine while walking down the street, enjoying her morning latte that she would end up being chased by an alien being, intent on doing her harm. It seemed like a nightmare, which somehow turned into an even stranger dream where she winds up being rescued by two strange men. Anya Bast’s newest book is called Taken, not “Rescued” and that is just what Anne turns out to be as she discovers that while Caleb Verona and Van Childress may have saved her from that alien, they have ulterior motives for their actions. It seems the pair believes Anne is fated to be their mate, and they were on Earth to retrieve her and bring her back to their home on Verona to fulfill that destiny.
While Taken might be a short story, reading it has a huge impact on the fortunate audience. Ms. Bast is at her best writing erotic fiction, combining her gift for penning steamy love scenes with crisp and snappy dialogue. The book is interesting and engaging, only Anya Bast could and would envision an alien kidnapping and somehow make it thrilling, exciting and sensuous all at the same time. I am not sure who is more seduced by the end of Taken; Anne, Caleb, Van or the reader. All I can say is that by the end of the book we are all well satisfied – pun intended!
