Marshall Conrad makes his life by selling things on Ebay and designing websites for people. He is 40 years old and likes the way things are. Marnie Brindle lives upstairs from Marshall and is being stalked by someone. She befriends Marshall. The two of them embark on a magical journey that is nothing either of them could have imagined.

The paranormal world created by the author has many creatures with various and sundry abilities and gifts. The more prominent characters of Stella and Ruby are whimsical and aid in Marshall’s transformation. There are a few minor characters that are important to the storyline but are able to insert their purpose in just a couple of scenes or so. There are layers to this story that are carefully put in place and then also carefully revealed to the reader. The plot makes for a great read in that the main character could be the guy next door, and the reader is allowed to peek inside the making of a superhero. Mr. Cummings has written this book so cleverly that I can only hope there are more stories to come along the same lines.
