Review - Nikolai's Wolf by Zena Wynn
Title: Nikolai’s Wolf

As the alpha fem of her pack Shannon McFelan has not found a male strong enough to be her equal and refuses to settle for less, something that frustrates her brother Rory to no end. It is this battle between Shannon and Rory with their volatile personalities leading them both to reckless behavior that determines their actions throughout the beginning, middle and end of Nikolai’s Wolf by Zena Wynn. Rather than rationally working through their problems, Rory’s response to Shannon’s refusal to take a mate, is to force her to follow his dictates or else. Shannon doesn’t bother with a reply to Rory’s commands, her response is absolute rebellion: he might be the pack leader, but that does not stop her from literally fleeing from his influence and control. What she finds is an adventure she never anticipated, a path she never foresaw and a love she never imagined.
In Nikolai’s Wolf, Zena Wynn exercises her imagination to its fullest, creating a unique family dynamic that includes two disparate wolf packs, complete with their differing pack laws and traditions. The members of each pack have their own individual and/or quirky personalities that make them the truly interesting, and in some cases outlandish characters, who manage to keep the readers entertained for hours. Perhaps one of the most fascinating people in the book is Nikolai Taranosky himself, however our fascination stems not from whom or what he is as much as from his instant connection to Shannon. Is it love at first sight, or merely lust, and will these feelings withstand the various members of the two packs trying to keep them apart? Will Shannon or Nikolai bow down to public and family pressure, or will they explore the potential in a relationship together? Ms. Wynn certainly keeps her readers on edge until the final page wondering if the star-crossed lovers will have a future together. I suppose that is only fair - why should we be privy to their future when even Nikolai and Shannon are sometimes on the fence. I suggest reading the book to see what happens, it is well worth the time.
