Review- Secret Life of a Vampire by Kerrelyn Sparks
Title: Secret Life of a Vampire (Love at Stake, Book 6)
Author: Kerrelyn Sparks
Rating: You Gotta Read
A typical bachelor party is all about beers and beautiful women. A vampire bachelor party is no different -- except the men are drinking Blissky (whiskey-flavored synthetic blood). And no one can throw a party quite like Jack, the illegitimate son of the legendary Casanova. But when the party gets out of hand and the cops show up, Jack has some explaining to do . . . if only he wasn't struck speechless by the beauty of Officer Lara Boucher.
Lara is sure there's something more than a bachelor party going on. What is Jack hiding? And why is he so interested in the recent disappearance of young women all over town? Her investigation uncovers more than she wants to know, especially about this modern-day Casanova. But if she's ever to make detective, she'll need to expose all his secrets . . . if only her heart wasn't on the line.
Kerrelyn Sparks’ Love at Stake series always contains humor and a surprise or two. If you haven’t read the previous five books – don’t worry. Ms. Sparks has the ability to bring new readers up to speed without boring old readers with details. Secret Life of a Vampire doesn’t disappoint! The one liners are spot on and come out of seemingly nowhere to break the tension. But, that isn’t the only reason you gotta read this book.
As the son of Casanova, everyone expects Jack, Giacomo de Venezia, to be the consummate seducer. All he wants is one woman who will love him for who and what he is. Lara Boucher, a former beauty queen and now NYPD police officer, wants someone who will be honest with her. Both characters are intriguing, intelligent and you will find yourself holding your breath as they face danger together and separately.
You’ll find yourself reading faster, just to find out what happens next. The only disappointment in the book – I finished it. You Gotta Read this one!
