Sometimes good intentions aren't enough. No one knows that better than Monique St. Cyr, parochial school dropout, dieter extraordinaire, and sucker for wounded animals. By day she writes obituaries for the local newspaper. By night, this investigative reporter wannabe with pit bull tenacity has a habit of leaping headlong into things, with both eyes closed. To liven up things a tad, her mother, an erotic fiction author, enlists Monique's help with research for her next book about online dating.

Before she knows it, Monique's mailbox is swamped with eager “prospects” including Jake Dube, a cop whose equipment includes a wickedly sexy grin and eyes hot enough to melt tempered steel.

Suddenly Monique's life is anything but dull.

From her 1992 Ford Explorer to her mutant menagerie of pets, Monique St. Cyr is in a class all her own. She knows who she is, and she is just like the majority of us. She struggles with her weight, her mother and a job she really doesn't like. In this book, the reader will laugh at Monique's ridiculous antics and the absurd situations her mother gets Monique into by way of "research" for mom's new book. I found myself riveted to the pages and lamenting the end. I know I am looking forward to the next installment in this series. To imagine no further adventures of Monique St. Cyr through the eyes of Ms. Amos is unthinkable. My world is a much brighter place thanks to this book.
