Hailey Saunders has been a widow for 15 years. Her life consists of her bookstore, her dog, Merlin, and long, lonely walks on the beach. She has secret companion though. Her long-dead husband, Zach, talks to her in her mind. He has continued to be a constant in her life. It is almost as if he is still around. Her sister, Megan, takes her on a cruise as a means of enjoying life. Little does Hailey suspect that something as enjoyable and relaxing as a cruise could potentially turn her world upside down. Karl de Groot and Alan Campbell both work on a cruise ship and can't stand the sight of each other. Both have their sights set on winning Hailey's heart. Who will win not only her trust but her heart?

Some of us have lost one great love to death. Therein lies the biggest of all heartaches. You crave their voice, their comfort and their love long after they have passed on. How great would it be to still have them be a part of us? To have their advice, their humor or just their essence to keep us from hurting would be such a gift. This story explores the possibility of keeping a connection with a loved one from beyond the grave. Hailey's relied on Zach to stay with her so she has never needed to move on. After all these years, she is faced with the reality of letting go of her past and moving forward into the future with someone. How many of us could make that leap?

I cried with Hailey. I begged with her sister for Hailey to accept male attention. I was angry at the obstacles in her way. In short, I loved this book. Hailey runs the gamut of emotions that we all do when we are faced with a choice that we don't think we are ready for. All things happen for a reason. The trick is to see the reason for what it is; an opportunity to live. Ms. McBride, as always, guides the reader in an emotional and loving adventure complete with despair and indecision that evolves into hope of a lifetime of love still waiting to be experienced. Consider On A Warm Sea of Love to be a romantic homerun, and one not to be missed.

  1. Since I know Ms. McBride, I can't tell you how proud I am of her. As a reviewer, you have done her justice. If there's anything Bess can do, it's write with emotion--she'd taught me a thing or two concerning one of my ms. I am so pleased you loved her book! I'll watch for this one to add to the others i have. Celia Yeary
