What would you do for a friend? What sacrifice would you willingly make? This is the issue facing Gail Henderson when her best friend, Crystal Al Jabbar, asks her to be a surrogate for her and her husband Rashid, using Gail's own egg. Complicating the decision is Gail's recent loss of her husband and toddler son in a fatal car accident, two years earlier. After much contemplation, Gail reluctantly agrees. Her decision sets off a chain of events none of them could have anticipated.

I do not have children. I do not at this time even have the desire to have children. I’m not even sure I have the desire to have the desire to have children. So please understand that I found this book a little hard to relate to.

That said, this is a really good story. It’s got love, betrayal, drama, and romance all churned together in a situation that would make a good Soap Opera. While it was a bit slow to leave the gate, it did not take long for this story to hook me in and have me wondering what happened next.

But most importantly, the characters seem real and had their own personalities, ideology, and short falls.

I highly recommend this book to anyone. It is a excellent read.
