Some dark secrets are best left buried.

Dr. Arliss Pardot doesn’t remember her childhood. All that remains is a fear of birds, and a birth mother locked away in a mental institution.

When the birth mother dies, Arliss must return to a small, Southern hometown where her mysterious childhood has become local legend. Birds seem to follow wherever she goes. Is it innocent curiosity, or is the legend about to repeat itself?

Secrets rule the small town of Morgantown. What lurks in men's hearts and in the black hills of North Carolina will shake the citizens down to their sleepy roots. After her institutionalized birth mother dies Arliss returns to her hometown to get answers. She will learn what it means to be a Watcher and the cost may be more than she can bear.

Set in the author's hometown, there is no lack of realism to this story. Told with eerie imagery and knowledge of the people and place of Morgantown, North Carolina, the black hills come alive with Ms.Hutchins innate story telling talent. Terrfyingly chilling, read it with the lights on.
