Two killers in one town--one of them has got to go.
Meet Ben. After a lifetime of abuse, he’s hopelessly psychotic. His best friend is a sock monkey. But he wants to change.
Meet Louis. He’s a charming sociopath rapidly becoming obsessed with his newest competition. He’s just discovered Ben’s in his town--and he doesn’t want to share.
Warning, graphic sex, violence and rape.
I don’t say this often, but Wow. Just wow. This is one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. It is full of action and suspense. Through the eyes of Ben and Louis the reader gets the peer into the mind of two very different and very sick men. One is at war with the world, and one is at war with himself. Each is trying to deal with the world around them in their own way.
This book is just exciting, and in it’s own way, insightful on human nature. It explores, without glossing over, the depths of addiction and fear and pain. It speaks to the part of all of us that we feel is broken, the side of our nature that we don’t want to acknowledge. It also reminds us that, while a tiger may not be able to change his stripes, he can look at them from a different angle.
Overall this is a fantastic book and I recommend it to everyone, with the small provision to heed the above warning.
