Review - Dragon Lord of Kells by Brenda Weaver

Title : The Dragon Lord of Kells : Book 1 of The Empowered Spirits Series
Author : Brenda Weaver
Publisher : The Wild Rose Press

Rating : You Could Read

Reviewed By : Tir

In the mists of the dark forest of Muir, Rowan of Locks Glen stumbles into a trap. He is the last of his kind, a fierce and mighty Dragon Lord. As Rowan is fighting for his life, he is suddenly, desperately aware that he should have taken a wife, thereby ensuring the lineage of his blood. A throng of arrows whip through his body as everything turns black.

Kira, a healer from an ancient clan of elves, finds Rowan’s prone body. She recognizes him as the protector of her people, hides him and takes him to her cottage where, she hopes, he’ll be safe. While there, Rowan asks her to be his life mate. She refuses at first, for she feels unworthy, but she was born to protect this mighty Dragon Lord. What better way to protect him than to be constantly by his side?

The premise of this story is very interesting and I wanted to love it, being a dragon fanatic but it fell just a bit shy of that mark. I very much liked the hero, Rowan but his reluctance to admit his love for the heroine, Kira was a bit unbelievable while at the same time he proclaimed his need to be by her side and the humming of his soul for her. Kira, herself, I wasn't too thrilled with at the beginning of the story for she seemed to be without flaws but she develops more as the story progressed. The villains of the story also were a little lacking in that I didn't really believe them to be as nasty and cruel (with the exception of a torture scene that comes very late in the book) as some of the "good" characters were trying to lead the reader to believe. The final confrontation is a bit clipped and I would have liked to see it expanded a little more. All in all, I felt that there were places where there should be beefed up just a bit but I am, however, curious about the second book upcoming in this series and will very likely pick it up to see how the characters fare in it.

Josh Sommers just wants to mind his own business, but when the mailman keeps getting Josh's mail mixed up with that of Ali Summers, his sinfully tempting neighbor from across the hall, he has to put up with suggestive come-ons from Sweetcheeks the parrot. Not that he wouldn't mind putting some of Sweetcheeks' suggestions to use with Ali, but is he willing to risk his heart?
Ali has a severe case of the 'hots' for her handsome neighbor Josh, but he resists her efforts to lead him into temptation. With a little help from Sweetcheeks, a red phone, and some sexy talk, will Ali finally have her way with the sexy hunk?

I have to start off first saying that my favorite line in the book was "God Bless the mailman and his cataracts!" Loved it and it made me chuckle. Ok, now on with my review.

OK, I fell I love with Josh first thing. I loved the way he couldn't breathe when he was around Ali. He was insecure in the love department and tried to fight his reaction to Ali as much as he could, and he failed miserably! Ali's character was self assured and she seemed to be the kind of person who got what she wanted. She was so funny and smart, I couldn't help but love her character. When you put Josh and Ali together, oh man, there were fireworks. I so loved the way they both jumped to conclusions and laughed my way through the story.

Ms. Destler is now one of my favorite writers. I love her sense of humor and witty remarks. Throw a crazy bird in the mix and you have a book that I absolutely love. The humor in this book alone deserved the You Gotta Read rating. Love Me My Sweetcheeks was a hilarious read and I highly recommend this book. It's short but is guaranteed to bring many laughs. I look forward to reading Ms. Destler's future work.

Her whole life Maria has done what was expected of her. Her mother had certain rules for her and she had followed those rules. She had married the right man, gone to the right schools, and chose the right profession but when Maria’s divorce strikes the seemingly happy home no one is more shocked then Maria. Especially, when Mark tells her he never really loved her.
On impulse and wanting to break free from the chains that are binding her to a life she doesn’t want, Maria quits school and her job. She goes to stay with her grandmother and her sister in Tuscany, Italy. She has no intention of coming back.
She is reacquainted with her childhood friend, Gabriel who also runs his family’s vineyard. The passion is hot and the heat scorching as Gabriel brings an intense passion from Maria. A passion she didn’t know she had. Come journey with Maria as she comes into her own. Be with her as she discovers love, passion, and lust for life. Come with her, as she discovers life and love in Forever Yours

I enjoyed being a part of Maria's journey to finding herself. She was a woman who had been done dirty and was finding it hard to not to let that show. Gabriel's character was HOT! The perfect Italian dreamboat. Although they had been childhood friends, the moment they first meet again made me laugh out loud. The chemistry between the two characters was electrifying. Gabriel was exactly what Maria needed to find herself once again.

I enjoyed reading Forever Yours. I was transported to Italy and shown how beautiful a vineyard can be. Ms. Gonzales' description of the imagery surrounding the characters was captivating and I found myself wanting to visit Italy. Gabriel talking in Italian made my knees go weak! What woman doesn't love to hear an Italian man. This was a well written short story that I recommend to those who want a quick, fun and sexy read. I love reading Ms. Gonzales' work and look forward to her new book.

Review - Grace by Mina Carter

Title: Grace
Author: Mina Carter
Publisher: Noble Romance Publishing, LLC

Rating: You could read

Reviewer: Nerine

Grace Solomon was a prima ballerina who lived up to her name until she suffered a painful motor vehicle accident that left her crippled, and at the whims of her cousin Fayte, who cares for her. Grace is no shrinking violet, though, and despite the fact that she can no longer dance, Grace still faithfully attends the ballet, indulging in her love for the art-form and also the guilty pleasure of admiring the man she fears she can never have – the dark, mysterious Jaron Conrad, patron of the arts and the object of desire for all the hot-blooded females in the company.

Jaron Conrad is a man with a deadly secret and a dark past, who is far more than he appears to be. He has loved ballet for a very long time and he has, from afar, been enamoured with Grace, whose dancing has captivated him. He also has a cure for her condition, which may see Grace take the stage again to resume her career. That cure, however, comes at a price she may not be prepared to pay, and has some unexpected results for Grace when she first takes samples Jaron’s remedy.

A quick read, this novel races to its first passionate climax in a way that left me quite breathless. Mina Carter knows how to build tension in a hot seduction. As a character, Grace blossoms from being bitter into a woman who is not afraid to push her boundaries.

I do feel, however, that I would have liked to have seen more conflict from Jaron’s point of view earlier with regards to his agony of mind over revealing his secret to Grace. There could have been a more tentative build-up to their relationship. The only thing about Carter’s style that bothers me is her reliance on idiomatic clichés that crop up often during her prose but other than that this was a fun read.

Desperate for help, the Rosellis turn to Tim McCloskey's paranormal investigation team. A simple pursuit of evidence quickly turns into a race to prevent another massacre.

And time is short.

Review:
Frightening hauntings, life changing realizations, and a fair dash of sibling conflict make this story a great read. I have to admit I stepped into this one expecting a typical run of the mill horror with some ghosts, possibly a possession, and some mayhem. What I found instead was a very well written story with well defined characters, right down to the sweet but slightly whiny girlfriend, and a great storyline that kept me engaged well into the wee hours of the night.

The story started out somewhat slow. Not in that the action didn't start right off the bat, but to me it seemed slow. Then things really started to kick in and get interesting when the investigation really got rolling.

Rating:You Could Read

Reviewer: Lupa

Son of the Sun is a book about a bounty hunter who discovers that he has special abilities and used them.. Well to see how he uses them you have to read the book. This is an original story with interesting characters and a decent storyline.

My biggest problem with the story is that it seemed to me to be rather wordy. With some works that could mean it was vividly descriptive. With this one it seemed more like the author trying to pack as may words onto a page as possible. The true action, what small amount there is, does not kick in until well over halfway through the book.

The main character Jas is a bounty hunter for the king. He is a tortured soul and you learn much of his past as he travels on his current mission. There is a good depth to the character that was truly enjoyable. I liked this book but I have to say it could use some polishing. Perhaps tightening up the story and making it flow a littler better would make an improvement. But then again it is what it is. An interesting story and a decent read to take along on a vacation.

Captain Nora Bradley has full intention of keeping her relationship with former classmate, and now First Officer, Robert Smith, purely professional. When she hires him, the two, along with a crew of top professionals in their fields, embark on a journey into regions of space not yet charted. Along the way, the crew endures a space flu that puts the entire ship in a fevered frenzy, alien races that change the crews' perceptions of size, compatibility, and companionship, and hitchhiking shape shifters that will do just about anything to keep their sensuous human forms. As the crew endures, Nora and Robert can't help but profess their love for one another . . . but can their love survive a mix up with the shape shifters, the unexpected takeover of their ship, and intergalactic war?

It’s hard to call this a romance, more like if Star Trek: Voyager as a soft core porn. Every chapter a new alien race is encountered and body fluids are exchanged.

The aforementioned romance between Nora and Robert is little more then a brief footnote in the opening chapter, that is promptly pushed to the back burner in favor of casual encounters among the rest of the crew. When the story finally loops back around, there is little romance, but plenty of sex.

The story itself is unremarkable, when ever it is even present. This story isn’t a romance, it’s erotica. And in and of itself, that’s fine. But it ends up reading like a low budget skin flick, where a weak story serves as a bridge between sex scenes.

Life in the small rural town of Lawton, VA is everything you can imagine: wonderful people, beautiful vistas, and a peaceful environment to raise your family, except for one thing. The greed and vanity of a few men has exacted a heavy toll on the community, and those whose lives have been forever affected have no idea. No one knows, except Sara. In her subconscious mind, the nightmares that invade her sleep show the confusing truth and feed her fears. But she never verbalizes the haunting images to her husband. Until the true sinister nature of the clandestine EW operation is revealed and the couple is forced to struggle for their lives.

Murder mysteries are always fun. But this story is less of a who-dun-it, and more of a how-dun-it. The story plays of fears of the power government, big business, and hospitals to draw the reader into a world where places that should be helpful and safe havens to a community hide a sinister purpose. Unlike most murder mysteries, the tale isn’t told by a detective or someone out to clear their name; but instead by a pair of reporters.

Mark and Don are childhood friends who grew up in their quiet little town and now work side by side as reporters for the local paper. The kinship is evident from the beginning, as they joke around and call each other by old nick-names. Their world is expanded on as the reader is introduced to Mark’s wife Sara, and Don’s various attachments.

As they begin to dig into the story, they learn that this quiet town isn’t so quiet after all, and the people they thought they could trust have their hands in very deep pockets. Laying their faith in each other and a few old friends, they search for truth, but doing so brings them into the cross-hairs of people who have no qualms about destroying them in ways they could never imagine.

But the story is more then just the mystery and the evils of the world. It takes time to explore the daily lives of the characters. From Don’s search for belonging, to Mark and Sara’s trouble getting pregnant.

I do have to mention, however, that I ran into a moment that threw me out of the story. At one point Sara, is rushed to the hospital and is diagnosed with Anaphylaxis, but the symptoms she is given don’t match. She exhibits vomiting, lethergy, and paleness lingering for over an hour, perhaps more. These are signs of poisoning. Anaphylaxis is characterized by a swelling of the throat and/or tongue, thus killing by asphyxiation. If she really were not found for so long after a reaction, she’d be dead. Furthermore, the treatment would not be to stabilize her vital signs, it would be to put her on a ventilator and treat the reaction with anti-histamines, then observation in case of a relapse.

Overall, I recommend this story. It is well put together, encompassing not just the main plot but the lives of the characters as a whole.

Sean is now the CEO of Colonial Marine, and to both their surprises he’s in town hoping that Jen’s firm will represent his company with their expansion. Needless to say, now that he has found Jennifer again, Sean wants her that much more, however he has unresolved issues about their break-up. We soon discover that the sparks are still there for both of them, but so is the animosity and hard feelings; they will both need to decide which emotions should guide them. Jen too harbors her own misconceptions – it seems the pair has a lot to overcome if they are supposed to be together.

Finding Jen is a rare treat. While it is closer in length to a novella, it definitely packs a knock-out punch. Ms. Brennan is an expert at setting a scene and inviting her readers to emotionally live in the moment with her characters. The characters themselves are very well-developed, with individual and unique personalities, each one extremely charismatic in his or her own right. Without divulging the ending, I truly liked all the parties, even Jen’s current boyfriend Rick who, to his misfortune, is type-casted as the other man in this tale. Ms. Brennan handles her story with sensitivity, inviting the readers to empathize with everyone involved, see their motives and understand their actions. While not the traditional ‘HEA” ending to what is definitely not your typical romance, Jen does find the perfect ending and everyone, including the reader is happy with it.

It is this battle between Shannon and Rory with their volatile personalities leading them both to reckless behavior that determines their actions throughout the beginning, middle and end of Nikolai’s Wolf by Zena Wynn. Rather than rationally working through their problems, Rory’s response to Shannon’s refusal to take a mate, is to force her to follow his dictates or else. Shannon doesn’t bother with a reply to Rory’s commands, her response is absolute rebellion: he might be the pack leader, but that does not stop her from literally fleeing from his influence and control. What she finds is an adventure she never anticipated, a path she never foresaw and a love she never imagined.

In Nikolai’s Wolf, Zena Wynn exercises her imagination to its fullest, creating a unique family dynamic that includes two disparate wolf packs, complete with their differing pack laws and traditions. The members of each pack have their own individual and/or quirky personalities that make them the truly interesting, and in some cases outlandish characters, who manage to keep the readers entertained for hours. Perhaps one of the most fascinating people in the book is Nikolai Taranosky himself, however our fascination stems not from whom or what he is as much as from his instant connection to Shannon. Is it love at first sight, or merely lust, and will these feelings withstand the various members of the two packs trying to keep them apart? Will Shannon or Nikolai bow down to public and family pressure, or will they explore the potential in a relationship together? Ms. Wynn certainly keeps her readers on edge until the final page wondering if the star-crossed lovers will have a future together. I suppose that is only fair - why should we be privy to their future when even Nikolai and Shannon are sometimes on the fence. I suggest reading the book to see what happens, it is well worth the time.

Review:

If an old fashioned tender romance with a deeper purpose than just your ordinary romance novel is what you are seeking, then search no longer, you have now found it. Journey to Forgiveness is a tale that is intricately woven with both romance and a strong sense of faith. I have so much to say about this book but let me just start with the characters.

Jenny's character was a woman who had one heck of a time holding her tongue. She was a free spirited woman who spoke things exactly as she saw them and it tended to get her in trouble more than a time or two. She was straightforward without being rude and was a delightful character to spend some time with. The predicaments Jenny gets into while trying to avoid Austin were laugh out loud funny. Austin turned out to be one of my most loved hero's of all the books I have read. He was a powerful and passionate man of God who found a special bond with Jenny. Austin was patient, loving, oh so funny and very outgoing. I think these were traits that made me fall in love with his character. The simple little actions he made towards Jenny touched my heart and by the end of the book, I don't know who was more in love, Jenny or myself. The characters in this book showed intense feelings of both love and conflict. It really gripped my heartstrings.

Let's move on to the plot line.

Journey to Forgiveness held a genuinely engaging plot line. A riveting read, I felt this was more than a romance novel, it became a part of my heart and soul. The twists and turns throughout the book were fascinating and I certainly didn't see them coming. My jaw hit the floor on many occasions and I felt myself rooting for Austin and Jenny. There were many hilarious parts of the book.

My favorite line in the book was by Jenny who thought "Two words could describe a romantic involvement. Ultimate insanity." This is the perfect sentence to summarize this hilarious and poignant story.

I took a journey of forgiveness with Ms. Brooks and I enjoyed every single moment of it. Ms. Brooks is a very talented writer who just found herself a new fan. The writing style was very invigorating and unique. I recommend taking your time to read this book. Take time to enjoy the beautiful scenery. Take time to enjoy this book through the eyes of someone who is seeing a great deal of things that are new to her. Journey to Forgiveness contained all the elements of an outstanding novel. Humor, romance, sarcasm, action and drama and what made this book extra special to me was the strong belief of having faith in God. I enthusiastically encourage you to pick this book up. This book is very well deserved of the You Gotta Read rating I gave it. I thank Ms. Brooks for writing a book that is so much more than just another romance book. She has given me inspiration!

She’s convinced he still loves her, but why has he shut her out? He’s made it clear he’d rather spend his time ministering to the homeless men under the 5th Street bridge than to allow her back into his life. As they herald the holiest of all Christian celebrations, can Trey let God resurrect his life, or will Joy have to give him up forever?

Trey Lawson was a wounded man, both physically and spiritually. He had turned his back on his one and only love convincing himself that it was for the best. Joy Cavanaugh had tried to be patient enough to wait on Trey to realize the mistake he was making and what he was turning his back on. On a day when she could take no more heartbreak, she turned it all over to God.

Under the 5th Street Bridge was a very touching and sweet read that really captured my attention. The feelings of a man who had come back from war wounded added a very realistic element to this story that a lot of our soldiers are coming home feeling. There is only so far we can go as humans before we have to turn it over to God, the only one who can truly change anything. This book was all about new beginnings and although this story was based around the Easter holiday, a lesson can be learned year round by reading it. I enjoyed reading Under the 5th Street Bridge and I know you will too. I look forward to reading more work from Carla Rossi. This book was written with deep conviction and passion. I would have loved it to be longer as it was a very entertaining read. If you enjoy inspirational books with a very real story line, and have limited time to read a long story then I would recommend this very well written quick read.

Blurb: The town of Tanglewood Falls offers breath-taking views, yet the serendipity is misleading. The impoverished people and their forgotten community have been unwittingly exploited. Their act of trust and blind consent altered their existence and the secret has remained buried, until Ryan returns to explore his heritage. For twenty years, he’s been haunted by confusing images, recurring dreams rooted in his past. He’s driven to understand their meaning, to obtain answers to his lost memories. Ryan’s search for truth collides with the folklore of the simple people and the belief that their beautiful Annie is blessed. Together, they unravel the mystery, but at a price. They become targets of those responsible for what happened to the town. As the truth is exposed, Ryan must grapple with his own reality; the fact that his past, his nightmares, and Annie’s secret, everything is entangled in the desperate act of one lonely man.

Review: This being the first time to ever read this author, I did not know exactly what to expect. The author, Michael, took a hold of me from the first chapter. He weaves a story of not only the characters leaving you breathless, but a plot that will have you frantically reading to get to the next page. His characters show emotion, humor, love, compassion, and courage in a story that is beautiful to the end. There is a wisdom in his words that has you wanting to read all of his works. If you ever have the opportunity to read this author, please do. You will not be disappointed.

Intrepid lady gambler, Catharine 'Cat' Bennington's lucky streak has run out. Otis Harlow, the man who murdered her husband, has caught up with her.

Rancher Jake Turner, is a widower, and has finally acknowledged that he needs to find a wife to be a mother his two young daughters.

Needing a place to hide, Cat travels to Loving, Texas, pretending to be Jake's mail-order-bride. Otis, their common enemy, is hot on her heels.

Jake insists they marry, so he can give her the protection of his name, but she refuses. She believes he couldn't satisfy her particular needs.

He strikes a bargain with her, if he can fulfill all of her demands.

She agrees, thinking he is too unsophisticated to suit her, besides as soon as the danger has passed she was leaving Loving.

Little does she know Jake has a surprise or two in store for her.

I was really in my element while reading A Wild Ride To Paradise. I love historical romances; it is the genre that really got me reading. I am fairly new to the erotica genre and this was my first experience with a ménage, I have to say that I was not as grossed out by it as I thought I would have been. Ms. Michaels did an exceptional job of weaving sexual tension around Cat and Jake; and created some really hot scenes that have me wanting to delve into more books containing ménage.

It is always a pleasure to read about a woman who can hold her own, who has a strong personality, and can still be very feminine. Cat Bennington fit this profile. She was full of cunning and wit. Not to be out done, Jake was the quintessential male.

The story itself was enjoyable and kept me turning the pages. I don’t know if it is in the works, but I would love to read more from Loving, Texas.

Barton Remington has always thought of his best friend's little sister as an untamed dirty-faced tomboy, but after a six year absence he returns home to find his little wildflower all grown up and much too appealing for her own good. Poppy Mandelville is merely a merchant's daughter, so when Barton returns from the war, and she discovers her childish infatuation has bloomed into love, she must put aside all hope of a match with the future Earl of Birmingham, or must she?

Barton Remington was not the same man after war than he had been when he had first entered. He did not look forward to going home to be the Earl of Birmingham as that life seemed trivial to him now. So he goes home with Dominic for a short visit and sees the grown up Poppy. The moment he laid eyes on Poppy as a grown woman, he knows that she is different from every woman he has ever known.

This is a story of what can happen when love blossoms, try as hard as you will to deny it, love will never denied. Poppy's character was a strong woman who lived by her own convictions and had a heart of gold. She was beautiful on the inside as well as the outside. She has a love for animals and her fellow man. She was the perfect heroine. Barton character was adorable. He tried so hard not to have any feelings for Poppy and the little things that attracted him to poppy were endearing. The attraction between the two was captivating and kept me turning pages just as quickly as I could.

Wildflower in Bloom is a touching story love story laced with comedy and excitement. I was positively enchanted by the Janelle Ashley's exquisite imagery. I hope to read more of her work in the future and I strongly suggest you read this book as it is such a sweet and inspirational read. Not a book to be missed.

Struggling with her faith after her mother’s death, Meghan O’Malley finds comfort in wearing her Claddagh Ring, believed to be blessed by St. Patrick. And when Meghan meets Rork, she finds love, friendship, and loyalty. But before everything comes full circle under God’s plan, Meghan must face the biggest challenge of her life.

Rork McGuire is ruggedly handsome, sings Celtic music straight from his soul, and has a dark secret. When he sees Meghan O’Malley, he falls hopelessly in love with her and wants nothing more than to give her his heart. Will the secret he harbors bring them together—or pull them apart?

Meghan O'Malley's character was so familiar to me. I could really relate to this believable character and the unrelenting heartache she felt at the loss of her mother. I know there are many people out there who can relate to the loss of a loved one to who has suffered at the hands of a terminal disease. Now it was Meghan O'Malley's turn to find her purpose for God in her life. Just what was her purpose in life? Rork was a singer of Celtic music that had the voice of an angel just as her mother did. I fell in love with his character and enjoyed their first meeting. Their bond was truly something to be cherished and I enjoyed how close they got. I don't want to give away too much of the book but just know that it is an breath taking read.

I have enjoyed Sharon Donovan's work since the first book I read written by her and The Claddagh Ring did not disappoint. Ms. Donovan's work is so different from a lot of authors in that along with a heartwarming and entertaining read, she also tackles health issues that are so prevalent today. After reading one of Ms. Donovan's books, you feel informed and left with a feeling of hope that you or a loved one can make it through a health crisis. I think this type of book is needed more than anyone can imagine and I am so grateful that Ms. Donovan is the author to take on this great task.

The Claddagh Ring is a quick, fun, informative and romantic read that you will not want to end. With God as the center focus and finding unconditional love a major part of the story, this was a book with a strong message on so many levels. It's about questioning God when you feel your prayer has not been answered and learning to accept the answer when the answer is no. It's about dealing with health issues you never thought you would and it is about finding purpose through all of it and finding the outcome to be something you least expected. The Claddagh Ring brought about some strong emotions in me and I feel this book holds a message that everyone needs to read for information, understanding and comfort. I highly recommend this book to anyone regardless of what genre you read or the type of book you read. It is so much more than a book about romance. It's about hope and miracles and I don't think there is one person out there who doesn't need both.

England, 1813: Romantic woes at home send Ariana Forsythe to her Aunt Bentley's town house in the fashionable Mayfair district of London. There she finds worse troubles than those that prompted her flight from home. Under her aunt's watchful eye, Ariana is soon steeped in high society--and at odds with Mr. Phillip Mornay, London's current darling rogue.

Then, unexpectedly, rumour of a scandal changes Ariana forever. Her faith and her future are at stake in an unexpected adventure that gains even the Prince Regent's attention.

Will Ariana's faith survive this test? And what about her heart? For it is Ariana's heart that most threatens to betray the truths she has always believed in. When she finds herself backed against a wall, betrothed to a man who cannot share her faith, how can it ever turn out right?

I was intensely charmed by the character of Ariana. She was a young woman who often spoke her mind much to the chagrin of those around her. She was impulsive, witty and a beautiful woman inside and out. She lived her life on a path with God and did not take to making important decisions light heartedly. From the moment she meets Mr. Mornay, her heart skipped a beat and she knew there was something very special about him and that he had entered her life for a reason. I watched as Ariana transformed from a young lady into a woman with her faith tested in a way that was beyond her imagination. She always put God first in her life and her main objective in life was to share with the world the grace God has for everyone.

Phillip Mornay was an important, rich man who had a foreboding quality that steered people away from him. He was not a man to cross. When he first meets Ariana, it is in a rather awkward situation that he finds very amusing. In fact, he finds her ways refreshing and entertaining. He feels connected to Ariana which takes him by surprise and he wishes to do all that is in his power to protect her. The bond Ariana and Phillip possess made me fall in love with their characters. The humor they shared between the two of them had me giggling. These two were the perfect match.

I was transported to the Regency era and it has been a journey like no other I have been on before. I have visited places that I had never experienced before and met some very intriguing characters. This was the first time that I have read a full length regency novel and I found myself in love and fascinated with this particular period of time.

Before The Season Ends was an stunning and sensational book. I was amazed at how intricately detailed the entire story was. From the imagery to the clothing of this particular time period, there was not one detail that was ignored. I actually felt transported to a beautiful time and place and I didn't want to leave. It is very apparent that Linore Rose Burkard has thrown her body and soul into this particular book and I enjoyed every minute I spent with these characters. Ms. Burkard is an extremely talented writer who has obviously researched this time period extensively as it shows throughout the book. I am unquestionably going to add any future work of Ms. Burkard's to my automatic to be read list. I have obviously become a huge fan and can't wait to see where these characters are headed next. If I could possibly give this rating a higher than You Gotta Read, I would in a heart beat. If you are looking for an engrossing book that immerses you into the Regency era where things are so much sweeter, and brings romance to a higher level, then I would strongly suggest Before The Season Ends, you will not be disappointed.

Deep in space it is hard to say what is normal and what is not. So who are we to judge a creature that takes on the form of those we know when trying to make contact. Now of course when that creature kills the ones that it becomes it is a bit of a moral issue.

The crew of the vessel in this short story are about to meet something beyond their nightmares. But of course if they let it the creature could become something from their wildest fantasies.

This was a fun short read. The characters were not terribly deep but the premise of the story was interesting and I think that this story actually has the potential to be a full length novel. I think the potential for greatness is in John Rosenman. Perhaps he just needs to draw out the story a bit more and flesh out (pardon my pun) out his characters more.

A single mother, new business owner, and the object of the most popular guy in town’s attention--starting over will be the biggest hurdle of her life. She may be hiding behind a new name, but that doesn't heal the old scars on her wounded heart. When Kade realizes that confident, aloof Lee is actually little Rosalee Timmons all grownup, it seems he hasn’t a snowball’s chance. But when opportunity knocks, he finds a way back into her life. Will Lee accept an apology seven years in the making, or will Kade give up before she finally gives in?

By Another Name is such a touching and pleasurable read. I don't think there is one person who wasn't taunted in one form or another in high school. High school prepares you for the person you are to become and Rosalee was no different. Rosalee's character is a survivor and has fought to make her own way in life. Her main goal in life is taking care of her daughter. She is forced to confront her past and those who ridiculed her. I really felt for Kade's character because no matter what he did, or how many times he apologized, the fact that he could not take it back made him guilt-ridden and ashamed for what he had done. Directly or indirectly, he was responsible for some of her past and he would do anything in his power to fix what had been done. From the moment he meets Lee, his heart belongs to her and his character was so adorable and unsure of himself, unlike 7 years earlier.

Ashley Elizabeth Ludwig did an exceptional job relating to the reader. The story had characters that I really enjoyed and the message was perfect especially during the Easter holidays. I recommend this book to all those who love to read a super sweet love story with very real emotions. It's a story of forgiveness, love and the fact that when you get older, yes, you really can have what you desire.

Blurb: Schoolmarm Winifred Merryweather guards her identity as the daughter of one of London's most notorious villains. To separate her life from his, she spends her lonely existence with her cat, Theodore, and meets twice monthly at the estate of Lord Nelson Chatham. Losing herself in the pages of a mystery story shivers Winifred's spine -- until the day that she's forced to live through one.

Kidnapped and thrown together into a chaotic adventure, newspaper reporter Remington Hawthorne's flirtatious charm thaws Winifred's icy reserve. But can they uncover the meaning of the clues and survive before the tale reaches the page that reads, The End?

Winifred Merryweather was an educated woman that had never married, it was by her own choosing and not for the reasons everyone else presumed. I loved Winifred's character because she was strong minded and very perceptive. She held others in high regard and did everything in her power to control the situations at hand. At first her attitude seemed rigid toward other men, that is until she met Remington. His character was captivating and he found himself extremely protective toward Winifred. I enjoyed watching as their characters became closer and as they worked together to find the answers to clues that were set before them. He truly was a magnificent character. The Countess was a character that I thought I wouldn't care very much for but by the end of the book, I was cheering for her. I grew very attached to all of the characters in this book regardless of their personalities. It's Elementary, My Dear Winifred had a wide variety of characters that were as different from each other as night and day. Combining them all and making the relationships mesh was brilliant.

I am new to historicals and very new to this type of mystery. I am a person who loves a good mystery and I really had to try to think through the characters predicaments and try to guess what might be behind the locked doors. Behind every door, there was a riddle to solve and the more riddles, the more I fell in love with the book. I must say that Miss Mae has set a high standard for other books that I will read in this same sort of genre from this moment on. I was fascinated by the turn of events throughout the book. This book felt like a big adventure that was shrouded with mystery and intrigue. I don't want to give the ending away but let me just say that you will not be disappointed as it ends PERFECTLY!

Words cannot tell you how good this book was. I can say I was holding my breath during the action scenes. I can say my eyes bugged out of my head and my jaw dropped during some scenes but until you read this book for yourself, you cannot appreciate it as much as I did. I strongly urge you to purchase this book. The writing was spectacular and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I give this book a You Gotta Read because I fell in love with the characters, the mystery element and most of all the style of writing. Kudos to Miss Mae for an extremely well written, attention grabbing, intellectual book that I will not soon forget. If you like mystery and historicals, this book is for you. If you are new to either genre, pick up Elementary, My Dear Winfred and you will find yourself falling in love with this time period just as I have.

A typical bachelor party is all about beers and beautiful women. A vampire bachelor party is no different -- except the men are drinking Blissky (whiskey-flavored synthetic blood). And no one can throw a party quite like Jack, the illegitimate son of the legendary Casanova. But when the party gets out of hand and the cops show up, Jack has some explaining to do . . . if only he wasn't struck speechless by the beauty of Officer Lara Boucher.
Lara is sure there's something more than a bachelor party going on. What is Jack hiding? And why is he so interested in the recent disappearance of young women all over town? Her investigation uncovers more than she wants to know, especially about this modern-day Casanova. But if she's ever to make detective, she'll need to expose all his secrets . . . if only her heart wasn't on the line.
Kerrelyn Sparks’ Love at Stake series always contains humor and a surprise or two. If you haven’t read the previous five books – don’t worry. Ms. Sparks has the ability to bring new readers up to speed without boring old readers with details. Secret Life of a Vampire doesn’t disappoint! The one liners are spot on and come out of seemingly nowhere to break the tension. But, that isn’t the only reason you gotta read this book.

As the son of Casanova, everyone expects Jack, Giacomo de Venezia, to be the consummate seducer. All he wants is one woman who will love him for who and what he is. Lara Boucher, a former beauty queen and now NYPD police officer, wants someone who will be honest with her. Both characters are intriguing, intelligent and you will find yourself holding your breath as they face danger together and separately.

You’ll find yourself reading faster, just to find out what happens next. The only disappointment in the book – I finished it. You Gotta Read this one!

Poor Savanna Royce, it’s one thing to be familiar with the adage “be careful what you wish for, it just might come true,” it’s another matter entirely to find out about it firsthand. Unfortunately, as we see in Paige Tyler’s newest paranormal romance Modern Day Vampires: Vampire 101 Savanna learns that her youthful fascination with vampires should have stayed buried in her youth. What was a minor teenage fascination with Angel from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, has her adult imagination picturing her dream man as tall, dark, handsome and possessing fangs. Her not so wise solution to finding this dream man - visiting a Goth bar – turns out to be not wise at all. Sounds pretty simple and harmless, that is until Savanna encounters real vampires: one who apparently wants to harm her and another one who fortunately ends up saving her.

While Savanna may not know what to make of Kaige Travers when they first meet, he clearly has her best interest at heart. He also turns out to be her savior in many ways different ways, being an example of what a “good” vampire can be. Modern Day Vampires is a well-written and entertaining book, a roller coaster ride of thrills and chills, extreme highs and very few lows. The reader is able to watch Savanna run through the gamut of emotions as she deals with Kaige, is he truly the man of her dreams, or even a real man at all? I love this author’s writing style; she has such a vivid imagination, inviting the readers into her world, initially mesmerizing us into complacently believing that this is a typical vampire tale when it is anything but that. Further reading shows a book filled with intrigue, mystery, adventure, and sensuous romance - everything a discerning reader needs to stay focused for hours of enjoyment. Ms. Tyler knows how to keep her readers on the edge of their seats till the very end of her book, which is the mark of a true storyteller. Pick up a copy of Modern Day Vampires you will not be disappointed.

What is more dangerous than a bored witch with time on her hands and the whole world as her playground; try four witches with immense power and the will to cause mischief. In Donica Covey’s Storm Chasing four sisters find themselves facing another springtime with nothing to do when one decides to challenge to her sisters to a contest. The terms: the first one who can make a human male fall in love with her without using any magic, only her natural charms, will be the winner. They each agree to the challenge and decide upon their Aunt Meggie as their Judge, and the person who assigns them each a chaperon; after all they need to be honest about following the rules, don’t they? It all seems fairly simple and easy; at least that is what Storm Duile believes until she finds herself in Red Cabin, Oklahoma trying to capture the attention of Vance Nodin, her human male.

While Vance might be a local meteorologist and Storm Chaser, with tornados as his passion, he’s not an easy man to find and pin down. Storm’s elemental power is the wind and she is able to control the storms that result, but any advantage she would have does not really exist because she is not allowed to use her magic. The beauty of Storm Chasing is not just the romance which is very well written, with a nice touch of sensuality, spice and humor, but also Ms. Covey’s use of so many well-developed and charming secondary characters. Fortunately for her fans, Storm’s sisters are destined to have their own books too, and I am sure there are more than a few other characters that the readers will hope to see again as well. This is a very enjoyable book; I have little doubt the others in the series will be just as entertaining.

What is a beleaguered father to do when his precocious daughter is determined to see him happy no matter how resistant he is to her efforts? Not as much as he would like in Marilyn Lee’s Eye of the Beholder. David Jordan’s wife died over a year ago in a car crash, and while his daughter Carolyn misses her, at five she is still young enough to just know she simply misses having a mother, and to want another in her place. Carolyn has found an ideal replacement in Diana Stuart, her daycare provider; she just needs to convince her father of Diana’s qualifications. Having been raised to appreciate people for themselves and not the color of their skin Carolyn only notices that Diana’s complexion is a darker shade and pretty. As Carolyn see it, her grandmother seems to like Diana too, so why is Daddy so slow? Carolyn sets out to make her dreams a reality, and a little adult resistance is not going to stop her determination. Luckily, Diana seems to like Daddy, so things should work out just fine…

This is a wonderful book! I found myself experiencing emotional highs laughing at Carolyn’s antics in throwing her prospective parents together to extreme lows, as Diana felt her own doubts take over causing her personal angst. The characters are so multi dimensional, you can’t help but love Carolyn, feel true empathy for David as he struggles with his doubts and warmth for Diana as she kept her faith. Christianity is a central theme of the story and is seamlessly interwoven into the fabric of the storyline. I do want to stress that while the book’s genre is inspirational, Ms. Lee does not “preach” to her readers or force any point of view. Eye of the Beholder is above all else a romance in the true sense of the word, beautifully written, expressively told with love and happiness the ultimately result. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves romance; you will be as charmed as I was when you are finished.

Eros hates Valentine’s Day. No matter how many couples he unites, his own life is lonely and empty because every relationship he helps create reminds him of his own dissatisfaction. When his loathing for the lover’s holiday angers Zeus, Eros heads to his favorite restaurant to cool down. Instead, he becomes even more confused because the restaurant’s enchanting and beautiful owner, Iris, who turns out to be a goddess herself, berates him over his horrible treatment of women. Little does Eros know, his mother Aphrodite and the goddess Hera plan to use Iris to teach him what love is really all about. All he knows is he’s met the one woman who could truly hold his heart, and he’s determined to convince her that, with her help, he can prove that he’s no longer the man she once despised.

Surely Olympus as a whole has better things to do then worry about the awkward romance of a couple of minor deities. There is such thing as a story book romance, but this is more like a Reality Show romance. The entire point is pushed to the background in favor of getting to the sex faster and general bickering.

It's like reading about horny teenagers. "He loves me? He loves me not? Oh well, he's cute, so I'll sleep with him anyway." And of course the token morning after regret.

Overall, this isn't a bad story, it just isn't a very original one either.
