With a long and bitter divorce behind her, Julia Stone is barely back on her feet when she's suddenly swept off them again by a hot young executive with a healthy appetite for sexual dominance. But after years of emotional submission to a controlling ex, will she choose to submit?

Workaholic Dalton Fairchild has slaved night and day to build his own computer technology company. All work and no play makes Dalton a boring boy. However, a chance encounter with Julia challenges the dom in him, and he must convince her that, though she's At His Command, submission is the ultimate power.

At His Command is a very satisfying read on many levels. Dalton and Julia are well built, well rounded characters and their instant connection is tingle producing. The D/s scenes are also very well written showing the "softer" side of the BDSM lifestyle. If you are curious about BDSM then this is a good book to start off your reading. The scenes are very steamy and hot. These two jump off the page and into the mind's eye with stunning reality. Our hero and heroine have merits and flaws that are very true to life, making them even more believable. I really enjoyed this book and hope to see more from Ms. Forella

In a country torn apart, Brandt Michaels serves the Union. Behind enemy lines, he expects the danger of Confederate skirmishers and swamps. Instead, he finds himself bewitched by a beautiful woman, igniting his passion beyond anything he's ever known. But he soon learns her coy games are only a distraction, as she secretly devises a deadly trap for his capture.

Elizabeth DuBay is determined to teach that Yankee a thing or two. Denying her attraction to the Union officer, she devises a sure-fire plan to foil his mission. But the moment Elizabeth surrenders to her burning desire for one unforgettable night of love, her life changes forever. As her well-set trap closes in on Brandt Michaels, Elizabeth must risk everything for his escape. From their perilous journey through war-ravaged countryside springs a passion too strong for the war to destroy...and too consuming for the lovers to deny....

This is a very full, rich novel. The characters have great depth with a wonderfully engrossing plot.

Elizabeth is an 18 year old Southern Belle with two brothers fighting as officers in the Confederate army. She is a staunch Rebel, viewing the Yankees as “invaders”. She is a vivacious, strong-minded and somewhat impetuous girl who grows into a resilient, courageous and resourceful young woman over the two plus years of the story.

Brandt is a 24 year old Union Captain who had come to Elizabeth’s plantation to map out a pathway for the Union Army to move across Mississippi. He is fighting to quell a rebellion and to keep his country together. He is handsome and honorable as an officer who does not intend harm to civilians or their property. He is a thoughtful, experienced soldier, usually thinking one step ahead of the enemy, but maybe not one step ahead of Elizabeth!

Although both Elizabeth and Brandt know they should not become involved, the fine pull of desire entwines them in a tangle of emotions. This story involves the obvious conflict of a Southerner and Yankee romance. The author did a great job allowing the reader to feel the sensual draw between the hero and heroine and then the pain and anguish of the characters as they think the other has betrayed them.

The story shows the struggle of the DuBay women who have been left behind as they are repeatedly displaced and trying to find safety in the war ravaged south. The plot has the risk of Confederate brothers facing Elizabeth’s Yankee lover in battle and a few twists with a jilted fiancĂ© seeking revenge and complications resulting from Brandt searching for his missing brother. The background is realistic with the horrors and deprivations of the Civil War being shown without being too harshly graphic. The romance and emotional conflict is intense and beautiful. This is a superb Civil War romance.

For ten years, Hattie McCall has turned a deaf ear on her dad's sage advice. And for all those years she's found herself in a self-imposed prison. Unwilling to admit the mistake that cost her the love of her life, she's cloistered herself in her teaching. Now, her dad has died and she must return home to run the family store. Which means she has to face Brad Trimble, the young man she'd spurned all those years before. The man she still longs for in the heart she can't hear.

This is a very sweet, enjoyable read with likable characters and an interesting plot line.

Hattie is a petite, lovely but independent, stubborn and formidable young woman. She has left her teaching position to return home to run her father’s mercantile after his death. The store is one of the last open businesses in the dying downtown of Leadburg. Her father had bought a beautiful plot of land where he planned to build a new store before his death, but he had not told Hattie of his plans. First she has to decide whether to build a new store or refurbish the existing store. Hattie’s dilemma is then increased when a large retailer comes into town offering to purchase the land and putting pressure on Hattie through the not so wonderful town Mayor.

Brad has loved Hattie since high school but lost her when he asked another girl to the prom after Hattie refused to go with him. He is resourceful, cheerful and responsible. He still lives with his mother who is very sweet character, if a bit meddling. Brad is the editor of the local weekly newspaper and good at research. Plus he had some knowledge of Hattie’s father’s plans. He wants to help Hattie with her decisions but Hattie thinks he has alternative motives or is interfering.

Hattie gets mixed messages from Brad’s behavior as he expresses caring for her but she sees him with his tall and shapely office assistant in questionable poses! I was rooting for Hattie’s negotiations with the bigwigs and appreciated Brad’s planning efforts even if he created more problems by not explaining to Hattie what he was doing. There is so much misconception, miscommunication and stubbornness between these two that I wanted to knock their heads together! There is some factual license taken with the business arrangements as sales of businesses are not concluded in 24 hours. Other than that, the story was realistic and I could shake my head at two people being so quick and stubborn that they got mired in conflict instead of seeing the love between them. This is a good, fun and easy read, especially if you like infuriating conflict with the romance!

Liv married Sal after a short courtship. He made her feel like she had never felt before. Her own father had kicked her out, rejected her. Would Sal do the same or could Liv find a way to ask the question that haunted her? When the old dog has puppies in the midst of the storm, Liv finds the courage to grasp for the life she wants.

This is a short, sweet and lovely story. The author did a good job of expressing Liv’s confusion and doubt about sharing her secret with Sal. The relationship between Liv and Sal was portrayed as tender and loving. It was a little hard to fully understand Liv’s doubts except for the fact that the courtship had been quick and Sal’s family less than welcoming. I felt the background story was a little sketchy and the author could have been a little more specific on why Sal’s family didn’t seem to want to welcome Liv. The ending is warm and wonderful and I was just sorry there wasn’t a little bit more to the story.

Malcolm Blackmon had nothing against vampires. He just wasn’t sure he wanted to be one. A crime scene gone bad and mortal injury forced the Australian transplant into a hasty decision, accepting a vampire friend’s adoption. His new family welcomed him with promises of a wonderful life free of his responsibilities as an undercover cop. Early retirement, no money worries and pretty donors catering to his appetites for blood and pleasure? Not bad. Hunting down New Orleans criminal low-life for blood and sport… He’d get used to it.

He’d manage all right if he could just get past Emily Kagan. Mistaken for his donor when Malcolm first rose, her lush dancer’s body filled his arms while her sweet kisses and sweeter blood flooded Malcolm’s senses. Since then, nothing has smelled, tasted or felt the same. His vampire family warns him his fixation is a danger—Emily’s taste has been amplified in his memories due to the stress of his first hunger when he rose. But it’s so much more to Malcolm. His spirit lingers with Emily during the day, flirting, seducing, protecting. Loving. Can Malcolm control his vampirism and keep nice with his family while the family patriarch researches more of Emily’s unique origins and the wonderful connection Malcolm is destined to share with the love he never found in life?

I really liked this different take on the vampire lore. A newly turned vampire falls in love with his soul mate, a ballet teacher and goddess, who also is his very first victim. She is also inexplicably drawn to her attacker. The unexplained draw of the vampire and his “victim” are explored briefly before the oldest member of Malcolm’s family, Joshua, begins to figure it out. Malcolm’s “family” believes it is the first bite crush the newly turned tend to get but Joshua is not so sure. I liked how the authors created an intimate setting without the two characters, Emily and Malcolm, being in the same room. Some conflict between family members, all without bloodshed, more intensity would be great. This is a romance novel, not a gory blood-fest, but we are talking vampires here – where is the danger?

The author’s did a great job of setting the scenes and providing explanations for background story lines; however, Malcolm’s story should be flushed out more. Is he a former teacher, if so what did he teach, or is he a cop? Why is he in America since he is not American and a little more detail about his relationship with the vampires who turned him and his eventual death? We also know that Emily’s father died but we do not get too much information about her family until near the end. More information about her relationship with her stepmother and her brother would also provide an area for exploitation. Again, more information would make this a great read. The editors need to pay closer attention as I found numerous typos (repeated words, skipped words, or misspelled for meaning – do not use spell-check). I liked the story and the ending; it is a love story so the boy and girl are able to be together. This could be a longer book with more familial conflict on both Malcolm’s and Emily’s sides. I would love to see a fuller version of this book.

TJ "The Snake" Robinson, the NFL superstar is in love with Tamela Marie Jones. She is the founder and CEO of QT entertainment and self-made woman of wealth. TJ has what some might consider a very controlling nature. Considering he doesn't see himself as controlling, just a man who wants to give his woman the desires of her heart. Can he change in time to keep Tamela from walking out of his life?

Tamela Marie Jones, Ms. QT entertainment watched her mother give up a lucrative career for her controlling father. What did she get for her efforts, three beautiful daughters that were the only bright light in her life and a broken heart. Can Tamela let go of old demons that threaten to have her destine to never hold on to a man for fear of losing herself?

The problem, both TJ and Tamela are very strong willed individuals. Can their strong sexual compatibility be the glue that binds them together? Or, will TJ's controlling nature, and Tamela's fear of loosing herself tear them apart?

In most short stories, the plot is hurried and the characters are not well-developed. This story written by Ms. Parker is not that type of short story. She makes great use of her word count to amplify Tamela’s background and her reluctance to quit her job. The reader is also introduced to TJ and given sufficient information to understand his point of view. There is a perfect balance between the author and the reader to make the story come together beautifully and keep the reader wanting to read more from this new series.

Sexy young knight Sir Geoffrey's holy vision of the True Cross sends him questing after a virgin, a unicorn, a sacred scroll, and a cursed island. Rita is a plump, poor peasant who speaks with the finder of lost things, St. Anthony. She hasn't been a virgin for quite a while, so she's thrilled to win the hand of Sir Geoffrey, and more so since Geoff delights in introducing her to his sexual peccadilloes, including a generous night of brotherly sharing.

It comes as a shock to learn that Geoff's vision includes his own martyrdom! Is Geoffrey's vision the result of insanity, or is St. Anthony leading him to something priceless? Only Rita has the power to save her husband, with some help from her heavenly friends.

This is a historical romance peppered with witty exchanges between the characters. I liked that Rita is not your typical lady but instead one with outlandish comebacks that seem to delight not incite the recipients. The reader is led along a merry path of adventure that is never boring or distracting. Ms. Cullen has created a world that seems full of promise for future stories which I intend to indulge in.

Maya Blake is alive and well and on the run. For her, "well" means no tubes in her arms, no electrodes on her skin, and absolutely no lab coats in sight. A werewolf attack victim who has become a powerful psychic, Maya is the property of a government that wants to keep her locked in a research hospital. Her escape is a desperate attempt to keep her younger sister, a full-fledged werewolf, from the scientists' clutches, but she underestimates the long arm of the law.

Adam Shepherd is a hunter. Plain and simple. Though there's nothing as complicated as capturing creatures that have claws that can shred skin quicker than an Lycanthropy carrier can spread disease. Werewolves are his specialty. In a world being taken over by a monstrous disease, survivors might hold the key to mankind's survival in their veins. The initial deadly strain of airborne Lycathropy killed his family. Werewolves massacred his adopted family a year after that. If he can neutralize pack after pack in the name of a cure, then he's fulfilling two driving needs with one urgent mission.

Unfortunately, not all fugitives have fangs.

Maya doesn't control her clairvoyant visions. When she's stunned by intimate premonitions about the hardened, no-nonsense leader of ruthless mercenaries as they capture her, she can hardly control herself. Her hands might somehow know the feel of his smooth, muscular skin. Her lips might know his taste. But her heart knows he must be her enemy. How can the man who threatens to take away her and her sister's freedom ever be her lover?

With extremely hot erotic love scenes, gripping plot twists, and even a happily ever after Ms. Hancock is at the top of her game. Having read her work before, I wasn’t sure what to expect with her foray into erotic romance, but Captured is a fast read. One you will enjoy, even if you’re not really into the genre. Set in a future world where a disease has turned the human population into werewolves, psychics and prey, I was instantly transported into this foreign world which is my own. Wonderful, definitely one you’ve gotta read.

Autumn, 1784: A tragic secret from Karin McNeal's past haunts the young Scots-Irish woman who longs to know more of her mother’s death and the mysterious father no one will name. The elusive voices she hears in the wind hint at the dramatic changes soon to unfold in her life among the Scot’s settled in the mist-shrouded Alleghenies. Jack McCray, a wounded stranger who staggers through the door on the eve of her twentieth birthday and anniversary of her mother’s death, holds the key to unlocking the past. Will she let this handsome frontiersman lead her to the truth and into his arms, or seek the shelter of her fiercely possessive grandfather? Is it only her imagination or does something, or someone, wait beyond the brooding ridges—for her?

An enjoyable read, but the dialogue was hard for me to follow. I loved the premise of the story itself. Ms. Trissel is champion with setting and plot, creating a wonderful love story which ends happily, if bittersweet. I look forward to reading more of her work in the future.

There was nothing remotely romantic about widowed father Samuel Hart's marriage proposal. Yet Josie Randolph said yes. The Lord had finally blessed the lonely widow with the family she'd always dreamed of. And she was deeply in love with the handsome preacher, whose high ideals inspired everyone. Surely during their long journey across the western plains to his new post her husband would grow to love her.

Each mile brought them closer to home, yet drove them further apart. Samuel didn't seem ready to open his heart again. But Josie was determined to be not just the preacher's wife, but Samuel's wife.

Another sweet romance from Steeple Hill, too sweet. Josie, the sweet widow, is nearly perfect in all ways. She is kind to a fault, she is faithful to God, and she is trusting of those around her to be as moral and God-centered as she is. She falls in love with a recently widowed preacher with three daughters and agrees to marry him and provide the girls with a mother figure out in the Wild West. The story is very sweet and the characters were quite likable. The only real problems I had with the story focused around depth. The characters were not developed enough around Josie and the setting was a bit thin as well. I would have loved to read more about how the preacher, Samuel, and Josie developed a relationship because it seemed too fast for the preacher to fall in love with her when his wife died within the months preceding meeting Josie.

From the story line, it appears Samuel adored his dead wife and mourned for her. I was surprised to read Samuel was in love with Josie without more development of the relationship during the travel to their new home. I also did not feel as though there was enough conflict between the two or surrounding the two. Each time Josie did something Samuel disliked he was able to rationalize it by attributing all of her motives to her nearly perfect faith and morality. When Josie was feeling disconnected from Samuel she showed complete restraint and understanding. These are not real people. Even in 1869, they would not have been real because people are not perfect and their emotions make for interesting reading. This was like eating angel food cake with whipped cream, sweet but no complexity.

Ruth wants to think Arlin is just a kid. A very sexy kid and nothing more. Too bad for her she has to trust him with her life -- and what's more, with all of her secrets. It'd be so much easier if she could keep on being the Ice Queen, but she feels like such an animal around him.

This book is a part of a series but reading this book does not require the reader to be familiar with the other books. The author puts a new spin on the were world. Most paranormal books tend to have weres be mated. This story explores an alternative to that by allowing females to be shared. The mĂ©nage scenes were well-written and not at all gratuitous. Ms. Harte allows the characters the freedom to act on their own desires without sacrificing anyone’s pride. I would recommend this book to any paranormal fan.

Walking home at dawn, quite drunk, Sir Richard Wyndham encounters heiress Penelope Creed climbing out her window. She is running away from a dreaded marriage to her fish-lipped cousin, while Sir Richard himself is contemplating a loveless marriage with a woman his friends have compared to a cold poultice. Sir Richard can't allow her to careen about the countryside unchaperoned, even in the guise of a boy, so he pretends to be her tutor and takes her on a fine adventure. When their stagecoach overturns, they find themselves embroiled with thieves, at the center of a murder investigation, and finally, in love.

Many authors try to imitate Georgette Heyer, but few come close to her style. Thank goodness every decade or some publisher decides to re-issue her books for a new group of readers. I remember The Corinthian from years ago, and after reading it again I now recall why it was one of my favorites. No one writes dialogue like Ms. Heyer: quick and witty are temperate words to describe repartee so snappy that the participants are sometimes lagging so far behind in the conversation that it takes several sentences before they realize they have been insulted. She lovingly describes every detail of her scenes from the furniture in the rooms to the clothing each participant is wearing to the coaches they are driving. This attention to detail allows the reader to feel as if they are transported to Regency England and allows the imagination more room to roam free and visualize.

One would think that with such minute attention spent on the background features of the book the characters would suffer however; in The Corinthian this is hardly the case. Sir Richard certainly deserves his title of Corinthian, but Penelope, “Pen” is an equal star of this book. What a fun, funny, innocent little sprite she turns out to be. Is it any wonder Richard and the reader fall under her spell? Together with Richard, Pen is the perfect person to create a romantic pair – of sorts. This book, like most Georgette Heyer books, succeeds because it has a large cast of equally hysterical secondary characters in addition to the odd assortment of people that pop up from time to time, characters designed to provide a little comic relief or to advance the plot. Ms. Heyer is a wonderful storyteller, perhaps one of the best, and while it unfortunate that she is no longer with us writing books, we still have her impressive catalog to read again and again.

Mark St. Crow is a gifted, up-and-coming musician who collects erotic art and loves to "play" women as much as his piano. After one night of uninhibited passion, Ruby realizes there's no turning back. But as she surrenders to her deepest needs and lets Mark control every forbidden thrill, her passion for him builds. Can the wild, intoxicating nights they share lead to a love that will last forever?

After reading Bound to Please I have another favorite author and her name is Lilli Feisty. I have read D/s books in the past, and this book has the most charismatic leading man I have encountered in quite some time. Mark St. Crow is everything one expects in a hero: tall, dark and handsome, and maybe the last thing one would expect in a Dom, sensitive and caring. He is the perfect literary counterpart to Ruby Scott who is curious, wary and running away from any thoughts of a relationship. Ms. Feisty essentially lures Ruby and the reader into exploring a whole new world, and unwittingly loving it. I found myself immersed for hours in this book without realizing how long I had been reading it - is just that good! It is astounding how the writing just seems to flow effortlessly from page to page, truly the mark of a good author.

While Bound to Please is about the emerging relationship between Ruby and Mark, and the childhood issues each are trying to overcome to be together, it is also about confronting their differing attitudes concerning submission. Ms. Feisty handles this situation with delicacy rather than “raunchiness;” the sex scenes are so vivid they almost appear in Technicolor however; they are not salacious or gratuitous and always designed to advance the story. What one sees, however different it might appear, is always tastefully done. I truly enjoyed this book, and feel very comfortable recommending it to anyone interested in this subject matter, with the reminder that there is definitely some bondage involved however, there is also a wonderful romance “tied” in to the book too.

Too bad she turns out to be his florist. Florist Lucy Chaple is more than flattered when Cole invites her to dinner. After her parents' death, her life has been little more than responsibilities--running their flower shop and raising her brother. She finds it hard to believe someone like Cole could be interested in her--and it turns out she's right. He's only interested in convincing Lucy to carry his child. But Lucy isn't about to give up her first born. Cole will do whatever it takes to change her mind, even wooing her. Everyone can be bought. He just needs to find Lucy's price--before he falls in love with her.

What’s a girl to do when a good looking man mistakes her for his surrogate?! Well, after the initial embarrassment and anger, maybe get to know him? After all Lucy Chaple is not a fool, especially when her best friend is pushing her to do more adventurous things. This little mistake is the premise driving The Baby Interview and what ultimately makes the book one part comedy and two parts romance, with the parts interchanging at will. Somehow Ms. Terman has managed to write a very sweet yet, sensual romance designed to convince the most diehard cynic into believing in happily ever after by the end of the book. Cole is the ideal hero: tall, dark, handsome and longing to be a father, absolutely perfect on paper. The only problem is he doesn’t want a mommy to be part of his equation for the “perfect family.” Lucy is his foil: blond, petite, independent and a business woman in her own right however, after raising her younger brother since their parents’ death she is not ready for another family - Cole’s proposition naturally leaves her uninspired.

Ms. Terman does a more than entertaining job of bringing these two incompatible people together and showing them the error of their ways by putting them in situations designed to help them find common ground job. I love a book that makes you chuckle out loud on one page and brings you near tears a few pages down the line. The Baby Interview touches on the contemporary topic prevalent to so many couples today: that of having a baby before the biological clock runs out only she approaches it from the male prospective. The only way this could have been more humorous would have been to make Cole the one to get pregnant instead. I really enjoyed this book, it was sweet, funny, romantic and just plain wonderful to read, and I recommend it to anyone and everyone looking for a good book to pass the time.

A woman driven by blood. A man thirsting for vengeance.

A place where darkness and desire meet...

As night falls, Claire Roth flees, driven from her home by a fiery threat that seems to come from hell itself. Then, from out of the flames and ash, a vampire warrior emerges. He is Andreas Reichen, her onetime lover, now a stranger consumed by vengeance. Caught in the cross fire, Claire cannot escape his savage fury - or the hunger that plunges her into his world of eternal darkness and unending pleasure.

Nothing will stop Andreas from destroying the vampire responsible for slaughtering his Breed brethren . . . even if he must use his former lover as a pawn in his deadly mission. Blood-bonded to his treacherous adversary, Claire can lead Andreas to the enemy he seeks, but it is a journey fraught with danger - and deep, unbidden desires. For Claire is the one woman Andreas should not crave, and the only one he's ever loved. A dangerous seduction begins - one that blurs the lines between predator and prey, and stokes the flames of a white-hot passion that may consume all in its path. . .

Having been introduced to Andreas Reichen in past books this incarnation of him in Ashes of Midnight is truly a surprise. Ms. Adrian decides not to play it safe and like a phoenix rises from the flames of his destroyed home her hero literally emerges a changed man. The focus of this book is Andreas’ pain, it is his motivation, his driving force and we are privy to it in this installment. He is essentially a tortured man, driven to acts against his nature in fits of revenge. Ms. Adrian does not hold back in conveying this intensity from the first page to the last. This is not an easy book to read, not the light and joyous romances of the previous stories in this series, and yet for all of its heart-wrenching extremes it may be the best so far.

Ms. Adrian writes with such strong emotion and depth that it is difficult not feel for her characters as you are reading this book. We are invited to laugh, cry and feel anguish with both Claire and Andre: happy when they succeed, sad when they fail. The instant connection between Claire and Andre, while surprising in how easily it is renewed, is as always beautifully detailed, sensual, lush and very seductive. Once again, the Breed, their customs, traditions and current dealings, are an integral part of the conspiracy and they aid Andreas in his search for what is evidently both their enemy as this book progresses. We find ourselves revisiting with old friends, who now become welcome secondary characters, and we are able to catch up on what has become of their lives now. As with all of Ms. Adrian’s Breed books, Ashes of Midnight does have a happy ending, especially for any reader lucky enough to pick up a copy and read the book.

However, as the war between good and evil is waged, Sarafina and Theo realize they have no choice but to unite in the battle for supremacy—that's getting hotter by the minute.

As the fourth an final book in the Elemental Witch series, Witch Fury has been well worth the wait. I am not sure about anyone else, but Theo has been teasing me for quite some time, silently brooding in the background, waiting for his story to be told. Luckily Sarafina is the perfect foil to his tall, dark and handsome hero. She is strong, resilient and sufficiently damaged enough to need love, yet independent enough to be able to survive on her own. What more could a reader want?

Ms. Bast has such a grasp on how to structure a scene, whether it is a battle or a love scene – each one flows seamlessly. She has a wonderful gift for dialogue and a great imagination: Theo and Sarafina seem to set fire to the pages, alternately sniping at each other or finding some other means of releasing their tension. It is fun to see some of the characters from the other books return for the final “battle” and to see how their lives have progressed as time has advanced. While I was sorry to see the last of the Elemental series, I am more than satisfied that Witch Fury is the final book to conclude the series.

When vengeance is done, will Kaed keep riding? Or will he return to claim his future with the beautiful woman the Choctaw call "Fire Eyes?"

Do you want to read a true western? Well, look no further. This has got to be one of the best westerns I have ever read. You have all the elements that make up an authentic western. There are marshalls, indians, bad guys, women who need rescuing, preachers and children throughout this story. You have gun fights, a family feud, and a kidnapping in this fast paced story. In the middle of everything are these two main characters, Kaed and Jessica that will leave you breathless. Kaed is what us women dream of having. He is honorable, strong, trustworthy and can show his vulnerability to the right woman. Jessica is a strong independent woman who knows what she wants and that's Kaed. Don't be surprised once you have finished this story, you are looking for other works from this author. Can't wait to see what Cherly Pierson is releasing next.

Losing her virginity can mean ruin for a Victorian lady. For Raven Drake, it means freedom to explore her sexuality. As a magicker in hiding, Raven subscribes to her culture’s less prudish philosophy. She wants to experience every erotic sensation imaginable.

Malcolm, Lord Preston, desires her from the moment he sees her, and doesn’t allow society’s rules to stand in his way. More than happy to introduce Raven to the pleasures of sex, he doesn’t expect to fall in love with her.

Their tryst is a welcome distraction from witch hunters and political maneuverings. But can it overcome the weight of another man’s ring on her finger?

Full of mystery, murder, and magick, The Dark Desires of the Druids series will leave you breathless!

Murder and Magic is an apt description of this book. From very early there is both and though I knew the solution to the mystery weaved throughout, it does not detract from the tale in the least. When I first met Raven and Malcolm, I was completely sympathetic for them but once Raven's fiance, Gareth, shows up, again I saw that things aren't exactly as they appear. The characters were all very real and their emotions splashed across the page with style. In the end it was hard to decide which man to root for but I won't tell you which one wins.

Often it was difficult to tell what time period the tale was set in and I'm not certain if that is a good thing or a bad thing. For one, it weaves magic back into a world where magic is dead but then its hard to orient oneself if one does not know where in time one is. That said, I still I look forward to more from this world and will definitely be picking up the rest of the series.

On Midsummer’s Eve, archeologist Goldie Locke will find more than she bargained for at her dig site in northern Scotland. After unearthing one segment of a promising carving, she falls asleep in a fairy circle and wakes up completely naked next to a sexy, equally naked Arch Fay named Tyrnan. She can see he’s well equipped to grant her every wish, but rather than spending a hot night with Tyrnan all work and no play Goldie opts for learning more about the stone carving. Granting her request, Tyrnan transports her to the fifth century where the stone originated, but the Arch Fay has ulterior plans.

This book was really easy to fly through the pages. I wasn’t ready for it to end; in fact, in my personal opinion I believe the story had more potential to it. I feel in love with the characters and the emotions they went through.. There were a few plot holes in this story, which kept it from getting a better rating from me. There were things that were hinted at from the author that I would have really liked to see her experiment with a little more. I loved reading this authors work and I can’t wait to see more from her in the future.

But leaving Minda proves to be harder than he expected.

This book has good characters and moves along well. If you like western romances you will like this story of love, family, adventure, evil gangs, and a good horse race. Minda, while she is a strong woman, admits to not being able to be on her own with the 3 kids. I like that the author made Minda strong, yet vulnerable. Brixton has honor and good looks, but struggles with wanting to stay and be a family man instead of roaming free. I also like it when the other woman or man comes back in the picture, and the person has to realize what they've wanted along. This is a good summer beach read!

From Claire's point of view, Butch is a handsome, hunky, annoying pain in the butt. He knows it, and doesn't care. He's taking over her life--no more working, no going out--just him right next to her every minute. Frankly, it's getting hard to tell which is worse: the possibility that the killer will finally get to her or that Butch will.

I have read books in the past by Moira Reid, being a fan of hers; I have an idea of how her writing should be. Let me just say she didn’t fail to please me yet again. The suspense was strong throughout the entire book. The author is great at throwing unique twists in there to keep readers guessing. Just when you think you have an idea of what is going to happen, she throws on of those twists your way and leaves you determined to keep reading to find out more. The characters are both strong and unique. They compliment each other only the way romance characters can and should. Most authors have a hard time with writing a story that flows, but Ms. Reid’s story was easy to read, to understand and to keep up with the details. It’s a great story most romantic suspense fans will enjoy.

Adara Galbraith is from the future, sent to 1880’s Texas to stop The Hunter who hides a deadly secret. Adara and Morgan discover the passion of a lifetime, but will they live long enough to enjoy it?

I recently read another installment of Legends of Loving Texas; so when I saw this selection offered up for review I didn’t even read the blurb, I just jumped on the title. Imagine my surprise when I started reading and found that it was not only set in the Old West but was a paranormal and time travel mixed in. I was definitely not expecting it to say the least, but it turned out to be a pleasant surprise.

Morgan is highly upset with being sent back in time for crimes he didn’t commit. He is getting the feeling that the Vampiric Council of Darkness (VCD) has something else in the works for him. He is left with only some of his magic and very strict rules, no feeding off of anyone on the ranch being one. His night gets better as he comes to realize that the Hunter is bent on killing him, he can’t reach his contacts in the future, and there is something amiss with Ray (his sire). Adara is sent back in time to track and kill the Hunter. She decides to team up with Morgan and work with him.

I enjoyed Cowboy of the Night. It was a quick little read full of action, suspense and a little love. I had a few issues with some of the names, mind you this is certainly just my opinion, some of the names ended up being long winded and a little annoying to read. If you have an hour to kill and want a quick read, I recommend picking up Cowboy of the Night. I wonder, Ms. Kendall will there be, or are there, other stories attached to Cowboy of the Night that will further delve into the VCD and GCI?

When private detective Donatello Sunrise is coerced into finding a Mob boss’s daughter, he stumbles onto a much bigger case. Dozens of women, all young, all petite, have disappeared in recent weeks. Before he knows it, Sunrise and his hooker friend Lola find themselves in a life-or-death struggle. The Mob wants them dead, the cops want them for serial murders—even the kidnappers are after them. With the fate of two worlds intertwined, Sunrise and Lola must somehow help the good guys defeat the evil ones.

The trick is telling one from the other

This book was fun! There’s action, adventure, suspense, drama, and romance. But what makes this book for me is that it does not shy away from the darker side of civilization – crime, poverty, war, power, and love.

Yes, I said love.

While never directly address, Sunrise is often witness to how far people will go to in the name of love. It was love that drove inherently good beings to kidnap innocent girls. It is love of money that could bring a planet to its knees. It is love that will fuel a revolution. And love drives a father to commit grievous sins in atonement for his daughter’s virtue.

Perhaps the best part of this story is that characters are not spared the tragedy of the path they walk. Hard choices are made on all sides and many commit acts that they morally object to in order to survive.

I highly recommend this book. It’s fun and exciting, without losing site of the characters’ mortality.

This was my very first audio book and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed it. It is narrated by Dion Graham who also narrates A & E's The First 48. His voice is intoxicating and a perfect match for this book. The Way Home is centered around a father, Thomas Flynn and his son Chris. It is the tale of a teenage boy who gets involved with the wrong group of friends and learns the hard way just how much he really does have. The characters in this book were genuine and compelled me to feel as though I was a part of the story. I could especially relate to how the mother felt throughout the book as I have three teenagers myself. There were some funny moments as well as some gripping and touching moments. The plot line was well developed and I was kept on the edge of my seat until the very last page. I enjoyed watching as Chris developed friendships with Ali and Ben. They would become a group of friends who could be relied on no matter what. The Way Home is an excellent story that shows the struggles between a father and his son as well as providing a thrilling peek into an excellent crime drama. The villain is constantly lurking in the background and has no regard for human life if it happens to stand in his way.

I look forward to reading more books by Mr. Pelecanos and am thrilled that the very first audiobook I ever hear was written by such a talented writer. Written with a dialogue that is intelligent, solid and laced with intrigue and suspense, I highly recommend you purchase this book.

Can love heal all wounds? Lucas Mitchell returned from Iraq a bitter, changed man, wracked with guilt over his friend's death. He buys and ancient mansion and deals with his injuries and grief by restoring his new home and rehabilitating retired racehorses.

Joy Kovacs falls in love with Lucas at first sight. Descended from gypsies who are still influenced by the lingering effects of the Holocaust, her family follows the traditional ways. A husband has already been selected for her, and her father insists she work at their ethnic restaurant. But Joy wants to use her talent and be an artist, and she wants no one but Lucas.

How can Joy find a way to help Lucas break out of his prison of grief? Although they've committed their hearts to each other, can the growing love and passion between Lucas and Joy survive her family's insistence that she marry within her culture?

Lucas Mitchell was a complex character who had emotionally given up after losing his buddy on his tour in Iraq. Joy was the woman that could save him when no one else could. The relationship between Lucas and Joy was one unlike any I have read so far. Being a Gypsy, Joy could sense what Lucas needed. In subtle ways, Lucas would be able to sense what Joy wanted and needed. To add to this intriguing plot line, the Romungro culture is steeped in tradition and Joy's family would not let Lucas join their tight circle as he was not of full Romungro ancestry. Joy had to choose and one way or another, would let someone down. Would it be her closely knit family or the love of her life? The addition of the villain, Tamas, was priceless.

I anxiously delved into this book anticipating the third book of the Damaged Hero's series. The other two books in the series were amazing and All the Right Reasons did not disappoint. I was in for a shock when I cracked open the book. It was extremely hard to put down. All the Right Reasons evoked unexpected emotions in me. I felt a part of Joy and Lucas' lives and the pain in my heart ached for Lucas and the issues he was dealing with. The guilt he was carrying around was almost suffocating at times. It was truly phenomenal how Ms. James was able to so accurately depict how a soldier would feel in such a situation. All the Right Reasons was a multilayered, emotionally gripping story of the guilt of a soldier, the love of family, and just trying find closure. All the Right Reasons is laced with humor and oh my gosh, you have got to read the bachelor party scene, I laughed so hard. Joy and Lucas are my favorite couple in this series so far. I know I say this after each and every book but the characters truly get better with each book.

Ms. James has once again gone above and beyond and delivered an exceptional well written, well rounded, touching love story with deep meaning. I can't recommend this book enough. I can promise that anyone who is not a fan of Ms. James yet, will most certainly be by the end of this book. I am anxious to read the fourth book in the Damaged Hero's series, Faith of the Heart. In this classic romance story, a conservative rancher and a free-spirited hairdresser are forced to share more than a common lake in the steamy New Mexico desert. There they must decide--are wealth and property worth more than love? Becky Chambers becomes a fish out of water when she and Slate Lawson learn they have both inherited half of the same ranch in New Mexico--now they must learn what is really important in life.

The book begins with the two main characters circling around each other, untrusting and wary of the other. Then the plot takes off in several directions so the reader is left wanting a little more substance. I would have preferred more interaction between Becky and her foster son, Grady. The author plays up the fact that Becky had a horrible childhood after being bounced from foster home to foster home herself yet the mother-son relationship is scarcely mentioned at all. In fact, more attention is paid to the matching boots and hats she wears and the design on her fingernails than there is to the child. Overall, the book is cute and might be enjoyed by those wanting a different type of love story from the norm.

Review: This is not your typical self-help book. This is a book that will change your life in so many ways if you are willing to do the work. There are 6 lessons in this book and in each one there are activities you will need to do. Each activity is meant to show you how to be the real you. I can honestly say this book will remain on my keeper shelf for years to come. You will find yourself reaching for this book when you have come across a problem and need a little advice on how to get through it. This is not a book that preaches at you. It is a book from the heart. Sean has a way of communicating that I have never before experienced. He does not talk down to anyone in this book yet you can hear the intelligence in his words. Sean uses personal experiences and other peoples' stories in order for the reader to understand each lesson.

I don't know of a single person who would not benefit from this book. It can be given to anyone for any occasion. When Sean Stephenson decides to release another book, I will be the first in line to buy it. He is a true inspiration to all mankind. I have been blessed for reading his words of wisdom.

Can a cursed warrior and a Druidess defeat deadly enemies and find true love?

This short story from the Sanctuary Moon Paranormal Anthology could have been really good, but is instead just decent. The characters are likable and believable enough, but there is really too much plot for the amount of story. I was left feeling as though details that were needed to understand the story were left out, and other things happened far too quickly. I think the storyline used would have been far better as a full-length story.
That being said, there was a lot about the story I did think made it more enjoyable. The Druids, Celtic magic, and gods made for a great story idea. Tani, the Druidess, made for an intriguing character, and the dream visions were a good plot idea. So, overall, while it wasn’t great in my opinion, there were enough redeeming characteristics to make it worthwhile reading.

Having beaten the odds, Ashley Miller graduated from college with a double majors, Architectural Design and Culinary Arts, accomplishing both without once neglecting her son. Being a single mother while attending wasn't an easy task, but to succeed she'd had to make sacrifices especially her personal life. Ashley had resigned herself to a life alone without the comfort of a man to love her and to accept her and love her son.

Nicholas Maxwell had long ago given up happily ever after, because of a long ago tragedy, now his life revolved around growing his construction business and spending time with his family…that was until his eyes landed on his newly appointed Architectural Designer. Now he had a chance to have what he'd always wanted, but feared that he'd never have.

Will an event from both their pasts come to light destroying what they are trying to build?

With the exception of a few things, I thought this was quite a good book. It’s very nice and steamy, with some good characters and ideas used. My main issues deal with the abundance of plot twists, since after a certain point there get to be too many to be believable, and the use of a rape as essentially a plot device. If these two aspects were handled better, the book would be better for it. I still liked it, but couldn’t help noticing these flaws. After all, in just the opening pages (warning, slight spoiler here, only covering the prologue) you see a young woman be raped, learn she’s pregnant, confront the rapist, then when he wants nothing to do with it, decide the only option she has is to struggle to raise the child alone. How many women after being drugged and raped actually go to their rapist’s house to talk to them afterwards? Then, later in the book, there are far more illogical events that you don’t imagine would be the course of action for any semi-intelligent person, or which seem like too much of a coincidence to be possible. There were simply too many aspects of this book that stretched believability for it to warrant a higher rating than You Want to Read.

That being said, there were lots of worthwhile aspects to this book. There were several hot and steamy scenes, likable characters, and a good general plot. Disregarding a few unbelievable events, I think most people who enjoy steamy contemporary romance, and have no problems with interracial couples, would find it to be worth reading.
