On the world of Terra Set, where the night is twice as long as the day and the moon more powerful than the sun, live the Star Mages. Essential to supporting the crops that feed the masses, they are protected men, revered, yet still mistrusted.
An ancient myth tells of a female mage born at the Silver Minute. She holds a magic that, shared with a mate, will be unequaled. Riena is that mage.
A ruthless king will stop at nothing to force Riena to take his son as mate. Her life and freedom depend on one challenge—hide as a man.
I like this story. The characters are all well crafted, the plot nicely thought out, and the world vivid. The politics between the mages and the farmers was very interesting, with each being dependent and antagonistic to the other.
That said, there is a feeling of conveyance to the story. There are many character who lack critical information while still having access to it, but show no interest in finding said information before going full steam ahead. As an example, Riena creates her entire opinion about the prince based on encounter with a thirteen year old boy who just had his pride wounded. Despite being given multiple chances to meet the man that boy became, she runs away.
Overall, I recommend this book. It is fun and interesting.
