A man by day and a beast by night, Filip has roamed the mountains of Romania for longer than he wants to remember. To break the witch’s curse and set him free, a virgin’s blood must be shed upon the Rock of Sacrifice.

Zolona is the last of her father’s daughters to remain a virgin, and the last hope for removing the curse from the land. Her courage must hold when she comes face-to-face with the beast.

Enter a medieval world of lords and ladies, witch’s curses, deceit and lies. Where death stalks the night, and the future is laid upon the altar for a desperate chance at happiness.

Ms. Casteel will surely please her fans with this great read. You’ll love the interaction between ilip and Zolona. And boy will you love the sexual tension…she is a virgin afterall. I loved the banter between these two as well. The dialogue flowed so easily throughout the entire story it wasn’t hard to keep up with pace. I also love how much Zolona wanted Filip and how hard she tried to fight those feelings. But in the end you can only fight for so long. Don’t be fooled by this short read, it’s full to the brims of action, passion, excitement, betrayal and fear. And Filip may be a beast at night, but by day he is the man of every woman’s dreams. I am definitely adding this author to my ‘must-watch’ list.

Oh, and I absolutely love this cover, it’s very sensual. The cover artist did a fantastic job with this design.

A young boy living alone on his tiny planet at the end of the Sagittarius galaxy, goes in search of a friend. Preceded by a welcoming invitation to spend their vacation there in that impressive building, the strangest hotel in all the world with mysterious inhabitants, history, and secrets, the lonely Starlight Prince finds adventure with a little Olympic God who inspires friendship and love.

This book needs to be about five times longer then it is. Events happen rapid fire with no explanation or break in between. There are very few descriptions given and characters and events jump location so often it is hard to tell exactly where anyone is at any given time. For example, Aries steals a poker chip that causes an oil tanker to spill in the Arctic...and kills the coral reef in the Mediterranean.

Overall, I can’t really recommend this book. The pacing is manic, the characters have no time to develop, and half the events make no sense and are never explained.

BooksStore – A female college student meets a bookstore owner and they share a passion for fantasy games. He helps her to explore some shared fantasies.
The Gift of Fantasy – A wealthy man gives his fiancĂ©e the challenge she needs as the ultimate wedding present.
Freedom Hall – An unfortunate girl on the run is given shelter by a man who demands payment.
The Party – A college student trades her freedom for a full scholarship.
A Question of Balance – A cop and a stripper are living an intense dominant/submissive relationship. Or have they?

Now, normally when I review anthologies, I do so story by story. But these are all done by the same author and all a variation of the same flavor. The problem with these story is that they aren’t really fantasies. The women involved are in desperate situations or are put in those situations by the men around them.

A fantasy, by definition, is an idea with no basis in reality, or an imagining of improbable or impossible things. I do understand the idea of a slave fantasy, giving up all responsibility and allowing another person to see to your needs. But no sane person really wants to be a slave; losing all your freedom and being forced to do the bidding of another without compensation for your labor. But that is the thing about fantasies: they end.

These stories aren’t fantasies, they are a subjugation of women. Tossing a girl you just met into a Gor-style LARP (Live action role-playing game) on the first date; not sexy. Hiring actors to kidnap your new wife on your honeymoon so you can be her knight in shining armor – without telling her it is all an act; not sexy and illegal in all states.

Overall, these stories are scary. Many people fantasize about situations that are in reality dangerous or taboo. Fantasies allow us to live out those moments without fear of judgement or consequences. By depriving a person the knowledge that what is going on around them isn’t real, it ceases to be fantasy and becomes very very scary.

When Kin Ambassador Mehfawni Ruh visits the capitol planet of the Tarthian Empire, she meets the human Khyff Antonello, a master of pleasure who satisfies her every craving for illicit and taboo sex. She expected a fling, but found love.

Upon discovering her own people devastated his family, she longs to restore all they destroyed, but some tragedies can never be reversed. Her family demands she cast out the human, for if she keeps Khyff, she must deny her heritage and abdicate her future as ruler of her world. Mehfawni searches for an alternative, and stumbles upon Khyff’s darkest secret. Now, she must determine whether his fragile trust is the response of love and a healing heart or a ruse for revenge.

This is a rich story, full of interesting characters with deep and complex histories, but a rather predictable storyline.

Khyff, a former sex slave, is once again forced to use his body to save his brother. The book follows his emotional journey in learning to be loved for who he is and not what he can do and confronting his past. Mehfawni is confronting culture shock, coming from a matriarchy where men are kept in harems, into one where men fully expect to be treated as equals. And she soon wonders if her people are any better then those who subjugated Khyff.

While the story has some interesting twists, it isn’t overly original. There were several chances for Mahfawni could have discovered Khyff’s secret, but it was passed up in favor of the usual romance faire of half truths and irrational overreaction. While this is not a bad storyline and works with in the context of the story, but it just could have been done in more interesting ways.

Overall, a wonderful story, but it lacks the punch of it’s predecessor.

How is one innocent country girl to choose between a Duke, a Marquis and an Earl? Must she?

When Miss Alicia Silverwood marries the Earl of Dorchester, he whisks her off to Notre Plaisir, a country manor where erotic surprises await in the company of three powerful lords.

The young Earl needs a wife and heir. The cynical Marquis de Beaumont needs a playmate. And the commanding Duke of Warrington needs a reason to live. As for the new Lady Dorchester, she’s about to discover the true nature of her own sensual needs. On top of that, she’s falling in love.

It might take a miracle for Lady Alicia and her three lords to come to an arrangement that makes them all happy. Or perhaps all that’s required is a little scandalous rule-breaking.

The Marquis has taken it upon himself to see to it his beloved Lady Alicia will never want for anything, including carnal pleasure. Herein lies the plan and the problem. Already married to one woman and in love with yet another still, he arranges Alicia’s marriage to his close friend the Earl of Dorchester. Knowing the younger man, the Marquis agrees to aide the Earl in introducing his bride to the more sensual world of delights.

Alicia finds the Marquis’ actions odd to say the least, but obeys her new husband in all things. When she finds herself succumbing to the Marquis’ wicked nature will she be able to choose gentle caresses over unbridled passion? And what of love? Is she never to find the one thing her heart truly seeks?

All of Alicia’s heroes are diverse in nature. Ms. Bell does an excellent job of portraying not only the male point of view but all three men in very different ways. I must say though I did find the Earl the least entertaining of them and was glad the author kept his appearance to a minimum. All in all, hot, vivid and engaging writing makes this one you need to read.

I absolutely loved this book. It was well written and fun to get into. My favorite part was the ending, how it worked out for everyone. I love a happy ending. Halle is a strong independent female who figures out she can make it on her own, and not settle for less than true love. Her true love is Baz who walked out on her, because he didn't want marriage. He comes back to help his family and win Hallie back. The believability lies in the fact that she doesn't give into Baz. She makes him work for it. I loved the inner workings of the Outlaw family. This book is a great way to learn about US History without feeling you've been sitting in a lecture. The characters are strong and Ms. Roe doesn't back down from the harsh reality surrounding that time and location. The book centers around the coal industry during the time when safety was nonexistent and the struggles of the families were tough. Katie is a strong female character who watches life change around her daily and yet she continues to look out for her family and her friends. She becomes embroiled in the Molly Maguires to hep her dear friend. The book is believable and I was left with a sense of sadness for the people of that time in the coal mine towns. Not a good place for some. It was just a good book for all ages, but especially youth.

Lilly has been in love with her brother’s best friend Blake for years. She lost her virginity to the oil driller on her eighteenth birthday, only to wake the next morning to find him gone. After he pulled that stunt twice more, she swore never to see or talk to him again. But now he’s back for her brother’s wedding, and he’s as irresistible as she remembers.

Blake thinks Lilly’s even sexier than ever. Unable to resist one another, they don’t make it out of the airport parking lot before taking up where they left off. As the two rediscover their passion for each other, nothing and nowhere is off-limits!

Can her own brother be that obtuse, or is he Cupid in disguise? While answering that question does not explain the meaning of life, it could provide a little justification for putting Blake and Lilly together again in light of their shaky and volatile past. Regardless, their current circumstances make for a very entertaining few days, especially as we watch Lilly try to avoid Blake, while Blake finds every opportunity possible to play tricks and undermine Lilly's willpower.

Ms. Richards has a quick-witted gift for writing snappy dialogue, and we see her segue this into down and dirty situations sure to satisfy even the most diehard erotica fans. I loved the interaction and the foreplay between these two characters, written as it was with exquisite detail. While I wished the book could have been longer simply to spend more time with Lilly and Blake, I can truly say there was not one thing lacking by novel's end. This sweet little gem definitely deserves a Gotta Read rating.

Constant Craving is a sequel to A Piece of My Heart. It was great to come back to Mick and Kate. I really wish it could have been longer. To see them after the twins are born and they are a bit more settled in marriage. I think the draw for this one is that Ms. Shortland takes a couple that we are familiar with and takes them down a hard road. It's hard to be newly married and have children, and as readers lots of times a story stops at the good times. Ms. Shortland goes one step farther and has Mick and Kate learn to come back to each other. Learn to be married with kids. He kidnaps Angel’s lieutenant, Jenner, intent on breaking him—and killing him.

But Jenner is just as nasty and mean as Mendez, and breaking him is no easy task. His secret past has conditioned him for survival at any price. And Mendez has a secret of his own—his son is dying, and he’s been reduced to watching helplessly while it happens. One of them will triumph, one will fall. But in this game, no matter what happens...the bad guy wins.

I openly admit I love this series, I gave the first two books each a Gotta Read, and with good reason. All three installments thus far are well constructed stories that expand on both individual characters and the world as a whole. But unlike the other two, this book just doesn’t feel as tights and has several plot points that don’t seem to go anywhere.

To say Jenner and Angel’s relationship is complicated is something of an understatement. So Angel should be feeling something, even if it is guilt over a lack of feelings. Instead his thoughts on the disappearance of his partner are all but left out, and at times he seems almost detached from the whole event.

On the other hand a lot is learned about both Jenner and Mendez, who until now have been almost antagonists without a cause. They both become more rounded and show a softer side to their usual hard edge.

Overall, this is still a great story, just not the quality I have become accustomed to from this author.

Louisa Cosgrove is a strong and independent woman. The trials and battles that she goes through in this story are epic in size. I found myself identifying with, crying for and cheering with pride for this young woman.

I absolutely loved this story. Jane Eagland has created a window into a world that few people ever even think about in this fantastic and heartwarming tale.

A wolf in designer denim coaxes Cat to leave the pole and find her destiny. Dissatisfied with her life, suffering from depression and plagued with nightmares filled with blood, the last thing Catherine Milton expected when she walked through her door was to find a well-dressed lunatic sitting on her couch. Garrick was beautiful, cultured and strong. But a sane man wouldn’t break into her home and tell her that he is a werewolf needing her help to save the world from vampires. After all, werewolves and vampires aren’t real, are they?

If a tall dark stranger walked up to you and told you that you were Chosen and that your fate was to be with him, what would you do? Personaly, I would listen to his tale then probably do the same thing Cat does.

This novella was a great read. I adored Cat and Garrick. The action was fast paced but didn’t feel like it was crammed in, vivid visuals and viscereal scenes made The Dark Ones a delight to read.

Now I can only wonder and hope that there will be more tales of The Chosen on the horizon from Megan Chase

Shrinking Violet her school mates once called her. Violet has never grown any bolder than she was back then. She has spent the last couple of years as a full time slave to a wheelchair-bound Master, content to live quietly doing his bidding.

When he tells her she’s to be sold to a trainer who prepares women to be ponies, Violet is afraid. She doesn’t do well with change or venturing out of her comfort zone. But Tom, the trainer takes her in hand and expands her horizons. Bit by bit he brings out the confident show pony in the demure woman.

There are many different worlds within the Bondage and Domination community. Seldome have I encountered a book about one of those worlds that is so well written and detailed. Cherry Lee has given the reader a delightful look at the world of pony play.

Violet has been happily serving her Master Greg, but now she is about to find herself on a new adventure with a new Master.

Tom is an accomplished horse trainer with a passion for pony play and when he ses Violet he is certain that she will make a great show pony. That is if she can accept the change from slave to pony.

Highly erotic and wonderfully descriptive, Show Pony is a great read, and a fun way to see a bit of the world of Total Domination and pony play.

Once again Cherry Lee has written a fun and realistic novella to show the world a glimpse into the “shadows”.

Ravenwing’s voices have always protected her, and when they tell her to use her astral projecting powers to first help an injured cavalry officer, and then the war effort, she ‘travels’ and has a brush with death in the process.

Mystical powers and a messenger from the President pull Ravenwing into a world greater than that which she has ever known.

I have to admit I was enamored with this story as soon as I read the blurb about it.

Filled with strong and captivating characters, a fast paced and engaging storyline and a truly sweet romance, RavenWing is a great addition to any library.

Ravenwing is a strong woman whi has grown up in the wilderness. She is also a powerful healer and is in tune with the spirits. Travelling with her on her journey is a delight.

When the spirits guide her to a man who has been shot she finds that she is being pulled into the world of the white man, as well as being pulled into a war that is brewing between the North and the South.

My favorite character of the story is actually Bob the bobcat. He has adopted Ravenwing as his companion and is full of mirth and impish fun. His silent commentary on the events around him are great.

Carol Mayer has pulled her readers into a mystical and romantic world o the brink of war and has totally won my heart with this fantastic story.

Once upon a time, long before Edward met Amber and Darren met the step-sisters, there was another Bride Ball...the fateful night that started it all.

It started out as a lark, an aphrodisiac delivered to the wrong person. It escalated into more, a punishment that caught two innocents in the web of deceit. When all was said and done, one man would be falsely accused of a crime even he can't be certain he didn't commit, and one woman would become an outcast in society. How can such a travesty ever be made right?

The long-awaited sequel to Bride Ball.

I fell in love with this family and with this world when I read Brenna Lyons’ Bride Ball, and when I saw that the next volume had been released I was frothing at the mouth to get my hands on it. To put it mildly I was not disappointed.

One quick note: This is a prequel to Bride Ball in that it occurs before the events in Bride Ball but the way it is written it is a wonderful stand alone story in itself.

The main focus of this volume is on Matthew and Sira, although the elder brother Benjamin and his lady Alana are also very much a part of the story.

My favorite character of the story was Sira. She is such a delightfully well developed character that you cannot help but want to snuggle up and hug her.

I loved the fact that all the things hinted to in Bride Ball were addressed in Poison, Lies and No Win Choices. The cause for the changes in the laws as well as the family wide resentment of Moria are clarified in this story.

As always Brenna Lyons has woven a tale of passion, love, confusion and resolution in a way that only she can.

A werewolf, Daker knows Thora is his mate, but her being a mortal just adds one more reason to take things slow with her. Not only does he have to find a way to tell her he is a werewolf, and she is his mate, he has to explain that the residents of Strange Hollow aren’t exactly what they seem. After Daker claims Thora as his mate, Thora knows they can never be, not with her curse hanging over her head. She may be cursed to be a jinx for the rest of her life, but she’s also destined to kill the man she gives her heart to. Not wanting to be the cause of Daker’s death, she has to fight her feelings for him or watch the man she loves die.

Curses and werewolves and succubi, Oh My!

Ok so I know that is a cheesy way to start the review, but that is me ;)

Strange Hollow sounds like my kind of town, a place where misfits can live peacefully – well misfit paranormals anyway. They might let a nut like me visit but I wouldn’t qualify to stay.

Marise Cheney’s vivid descriptions and brilliant details bring to mind any quiet little town out in the boonies; with of course the exception that this town has werewolves, succubi and any number of other unique individuals residing there.

Thora is a tough young woman, of course being a jinx – cursed even – she would have to be pretty tough to survive. Above and beyond that she has learned to take things as they come, of course she certainly didn’t expect what she gets when her car breaks down in Strange Hollow.

Daker is handsome, smart, and a slightly dysfunctional werewolf, but his patience with and passion for Thora make him a great match for her.

Jinx and Her Werewolf is a great read, the characters are well rounded and fun, the setting of Strange Hollow is detailed and endearing. I definatley recommend this book to anyone who likes the paranormal.

The mot important thing to remember though is that Assumptions will get you in trouble ;). Just ask Thora and Daker.

Queen Catharine of Echosea will do anything to save her country. Queen Gloriana of Albion leads her people with the strength of a man. Two warrior queens, imperious and beautiful. Destiny made them rivals . . . passion made them lovers!

Warring kingdoms are a common theme in many historical stories. Kingdoms were and in some ways still are always going to way with each other. Never have I found such a delightful twist to that ancient theme as Glory and the Clever Cat.

Queen Catherine of Echosea and Queen Gloriana of Albion have been at war. Gloriana’s men have just defeated Cat’s forces and have driven them back. To celebrate Glory is holding a grand winter feast. At the feast a poor young woman enters and captures the attention of the Queen. Little did she know that the young woman she is playing with is her counterpart Queen Catherine.

The lives of these two Queens change dramatically when they finally meet. And their two kingdoms will never be the same again.

Glory and the Clever Cat is a well written, vividly descriptive short story. It contains one of the best first time lesbian encounters I have ever read.

Glory and the Clever Cat is definitely a Need To Read section.

Handsome, blond, Jacob Cob was on a hunting trip that takes him beyond anything he could have imagined. While tracking an animal, he steps into what he believes is the mouth of a cave only to wake up a thousand years in the past.

Taken in by a native band, a young warrior offers him shelter and friendship. Jacob begins to learn the ways of the band, and soon finds himself falling for Tsaskwana, or Bird Song, a lovely native woman. Still he searches for a way home. Every spare moment he has, he wanders the forest, trying to find that cave, to no avail.

Will his white man ways ruin his chance at happiness? Will Bird Song win his heart? Will he accept this new home and these people as his?

Time travel and Indians what could go wrong with that combination.

Jacob Cob is a modern day hunter who wanders into the past while out on a hunt and he finds more than he expected when he stumbles upon a tribe of Indians deep in the forest. How will he handle the loss of his modern conveniences like his cell phone? And How will he acclimate to the simpler life of the tribe?

Songbird is a maiden of the village. She is strong and beautiful and gets more than she expects when she meets the stranger Jacob.

The story begins with a very detailed description of tracking deer and that detail continues throughout the story. Although the tribe of Indians is not specified there is a good smattering of a natve language throughout the story as Jacob quickly learns to live the life of the natives around him.

The erotic scenes of the story are well written and descriptive without being vulgar, lending to the overall theme of a gentler, if more challenging way of life.

I greatly enjoyed this story. Jude Mason has created an enchanting world in Finding Home. He has perfectly captured the troubles of being trapped in tow worlds, something that many mixed blood Indians like myself struggle with everyday.

Intergalactic warfare has not been kind to humans. Convicted pilot Zoya Scott has the chance to avenge her family, redeem an act of desperation with that of sacrifice. She’ll end this war if she betrays the man whose touch burns through her soul, the man whose ship and crew she must destroy. The man who is her bloodmate.

Commander Galen Stark never expected the convicted pilot on his ship to be anything more than a good looking inconvenience. A small brush of their hands grips him with vicious lust, a need he can’t control. She is his bloodmate--a biological reaction burning through his veins.

Except his bloodmate carries an explosive. And Stark may have to give the order to destroy them all.

Travelling through space is a challenge at times but even more so when you are about to engage in battle with a group of vicious aliens.

Stark is the commander of the battle cruiser Victory, he and his crew have been sent to the front lines of the war against the Merc. Little does he know that the new addition to his crew will turn his life upside down in a number of ways.

Zoya Scott is on a special mission. She has been placed on the Victory to create destruction in an attempt to stop the terrible crimes that are being committed against her people. But what she finds aboard the ship is more than she bargained for.

Cold Victory is a wonderful story filled with epic space battles, passion and some steamy erotic scenes. I love the concept that Fiona Jayde creates in the story of the Bloodmate. In this version of the future there are few humans who are actually capable of breeding. The Bloodmate is a rare and fantastic bond between two people that goes almost to the cellular level. Of course its rareness also makes it something hat the government wants to research and that tosses yet another challenge into the lives of Stark and Zoya.

I would recommend Cold Victory to any Sci-Fi buff, particularly those who are into the Traveller Universe. This story has a strong Traveller feel to it and was a great read with one heck of an ending.

Can a Gypsy girl host the Mistress of War without disrupting her wedding Knight?

Bennett, a knight of the White Tower, and Stella, a Romany girl with a deadly blade, find themselves deeply in love -- and on the run. Their new marriage is complicated by the rescue of Palima, Mistress of War, who was imprisoned in a stone for her part in the battle against evil.

Will Bennett’s marriage survive a stranger dwelling within his new wife’s head? And can the three of them rally the Romany and defend the kingdom from Mandrake, who prolongs his life by absorbing the energy of men and women who die on his obscene altar?

Picking up where the first book Jannette left off, the second volume in the Chronicles of the White Tower follows Bennett and Stella on their quest to defeat the dark wizard Mandrake.

Keep in mind that though this is the second book in a series the story itself is strong enough to be read as a standalone. Characters from the first book are metioned but it is not vital to have read the first book to enjoy the second. That being said – I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Mark Patrick has woven and exciting world filled with fierce battles, frightening enemies and mystical beings.

My favorite character in the book has to be Stella. Her strength and tenacity are a great boon to Bennett and his quest but she also has a wonderful way of keeping the knight in check that gives their relationship a great depth and a realistic feel. There are romantic elements to this story but it si more action and adventure than romance. The relationship that develops between Bennett and Stella works to enhance the entire story without overwhelming it.

I am truly looking forward to the nest installment of the Chronicles of the White Tower series.

It has info on feeding, cleaning, training, socializing and excercising your bobcat/lynx with anecdotes from the author's own experiences with her bobfriends. More than 20 full color pictures!

This book is a must read for anyone interested in adding an exotic cat, a bobcat in particular, to their family.

BL hersh has written an informative and endearing book that will serve as a great resource for first time bobcat caretakers, as well as a fun read for experienced exotic owners.

As the proud “momma” of a bobcat I found the stories and advice in A House Full of Bobcats to be accurate (the advice) and enough to bring tears to my eyes (the stories).

BL Hersh has given her readers a glimpse into her life, and with that has shown the joys and sorrows of being owned by a bobcat.

I was a little disappointed in the lack of data and actual care information that is presented in the book. (As a researcher I tend to lean heavily on information and facts.) The stories in the book do convey information but as of yet there is no difinative book on bobcat care. This is definitely a good start to solving that though and I am looking forward to more volumes in the future.
