Story Blurb:

Gailyn Bridges is a psychic who is ready to end her troublesome career as a private

investigator. For the last time, she summons a powerful spirit to help her close a final

However, the mysterious entity who answers, Malak, is no ordinary spirit. He's more

than willing to help Gailyn save the would-be victim of a violent crime.

But who's going to save Gailyn when Malak returns to collect payment for lending

her his power?

This book has a great premise and large amounts of potential which I don't feel like are fully realized in this short novel. Ms. Caldwell does not allow her characters the expansion they need to shine as much as I would like them to. The romance between Malak (and that name- He's supposed to be a WWI veteran and his name is Malak? Where is he from, Regiment 666?) and Gailyn would work much better if there was more tension involved in their dialogue. One minute Gailyn absolutely REFUSES to even speak with the demon, and two pages later she is trembling under his sexual advances. I don't know. It doesn't seem like the author had the patience to keep writing.

The main plot-line with the client is troublesome at best. At worst it is a waste of precious eyesight. It makes little sense and is resolved in the space of a few lines, making me question why she added it at all.

Yes, if it is not obvious by now, I would not recommend this too highly. If you're looking for a very quick read, then sure, otherwise pick up something meatier.
