Some men just have more to offer. Like Bo Novikov, the hard-muscled shape-shifter hero of this wildly funny, deeply sexy new novel from Shelly Laurenston—part polar bear, part lion, pure alpha…

Ten years after Blayne Thorpe first encountered Bo Novikov, she still can’t get the smooth-talking shifter out of her head. Now he’s shadowing her in New York—all seven-plus feet of him—determined to protect her from stalkers who want to use her in shifter dogfights. Even if he has to drag her off to an isolated Maine town where the only neighbors are other bears almost as crazy as he is…

Let sleeping dogs lie. Bo knows it’s good advice, but he can’t leave Blayne be. Blame it on her sweet sexiness—or his hunch that there’s more to this little wolfdog than meets the eye. Blayne has depths he hasn’t yet begun to fathom—much as he’d like to. She may insist Bo’s nothing but a pain in her delectable behind, but polar bears have patience in spades. Soon she’ll realize how good they can be together. And when she does, animal instinct tells him it’ll be worth the wait…

Blayne Thorpe ran from the frightening and unwavering stare of Bo Novikov ten years ago, and now that it’s happening again, Blayne is convinced that Bo is a psychopathic serial killer out to add her to his cellar cemetery. Bo, the Marauder, Novikov, is the most feared and sought after player in the shifter hockey league. The polar bear/lion hybrid remembers Blayne and the intense reaction he had to her ten years ago. He wouldn’t mind a little between the sheets action with the little wolf dog, but it has to be on his schedule.

This was my first foray into the shifter world of Shelly Laurenston and OH MY GOD!! Why did I wait so long?? This book was terrific. I laughed so hard I cried. This was without a doubt one of the funniest, sexiest, and all around most wonderful books I have read in a very long time. Blayne is an absolute hoot and has a habit of getting attacked by badgers hiding in pipes. (You had to be there) Bo is such a major hard ass that watching these two characters interact was just hilarious. Throw in the other myriad shifters who are out to make Bo’s life miserable and it is one outrageous party. Add in the bizarre lifestyles these shifters enjoy and you wind up reading a good part of the book with your mouth hanging open and catching flies. While Bo and his manager are out at an upscale restaurant negotiating a new contract, Bo is dining on seal and whale blubber in a delightful peppercorn sauce. <snort….ewwww>

Blayne is a plumber, and a derby girl. That’s roller derby, thank you very much. She’s also too nice for her team, they need her to toughen up in a hurry. That’s where Bo comes in, who else but the terror of the ice could turn sweet, ditzy Blayne into a vicious enforcer. Ha! It’s not all fun and games, however. There are kidnapping attempts, microchipping, illegal dog fights, and lots of maiming and killing of all creatures great and small. It all blends together in this magnificent series that has bolted it’s way onto my favorites list. Off to the bookstore for more of this sexy group of shifters.
