Battered by three devastating hurricanes in a row, the Texas coast is flattened. But for the people of Houston—and soon all of America—the most terrifying events are just beginning…
Out of the flooded streets of Houston, they emerge from plague-ridden waters. Dead. Rotting. Hungry. And as human survivors scramble to their rooftops for safety, the zombie hordes circle like sharks. The ultimate killing machines.
Houston is quarantined to halt the spread of the zombie plague. Anyone trying to escape is shot on sight—living and dead. Emergency Ops sergeant Eleanor Norton has her work cut out for her. Salvaging boats and gathering explosives, Eleanor and her team struggle to maintain order. But when civilization finally breaks down, the feeding frenzy begins.
Biting, gnawing, feasting—but always craving more—the flesheaters increase their ranks every hour. With doomsday looming, Eleanor must focus on the people she loves—her husband and daughter—and a band of other survivors adrift in zombie-infested waters. If she can’t bring them into the quarantine zone, they’re all dead meat.
After many major disasters hit Houston people start becoming different and they begin to crave human flesh. Eleanor and her commander are each fighting to save their families as well as any other survivors that they find. They have lost all help from the government and must rely on themselves. Can they save not only themselves but also their city and maybe even mankind?
Each of the characters has depth and emotions throughout this book. Seeing the bond that Eleanor’s family has was a nice read. They try to help each other no matter what and the love that they share as a family stands out. Her commander Mark is a good man as well. He wants to save his family and cares deeply for them. As we read the book we are taken on a journey between these two family units and feel their pain and fear. Not only do get know these two families there are other secondary characters that make an impression. Seeing the human race as a whole begin to fight together makes for a good read.
Flesh Eaters is an enjoyable read that takes you deep into the minds of each of it’s character. This author does a wonderful job of bringing the reader into this world of mayhem and danger. Joe McKinney has found new fan and I will be sure to look for more books in the future.
