Once upon a time...the Blood Sorcerer vanquished the kingdom of Elden. To save their children, the queen scattered them to safety and the king filled them with vengeance. Only a magical timepiece connects the four royal heirs...and time is running out....

Princess Breena had been dreaming of her warrior lover when she was ripped from her Elden castle and thrown into a strange, dangerous realm. Lost and alone, she prayed for survival and vengeance for her stolen kingdom. She found both in a woodland cottage...in a dark bear of a man.

The golden-haired beauty had eaten his food and slept in his bed when Osborn found her. Though he wanted to awaken his virgin princess to carnal pleasures, Breena wanted more—including his warrior skills. Skills the once-legendary mercenary had long buried. Now Osborn had a choice—risk his life or deny his princess her fairy-tale ending.

The king and queen of Elden have been murdered and it’s surviving subjects enslaved. The four royal children have been scattered to the winds through a last bit of magic wrought before their parents deaths. Breena is the only female born to royal couple. Her parents and brothers spoiled and protected the young princess who was being groomed for her life as a noble wife and mother. When Breena awakened injured and scared in a dense, unfamiliar forest, she was in no way prepared to secure her own survival. When she happens on an unattended cottage, Breena has no qualms about entering and making herself at home. She eats, drinks, accidentally breaks a chair, and falls asleep in a bed.

Osborn is among the last of his tribe. He and his two younger brothers survived a massacre that killed all the rest of his kind, but not without seeing who was responsible for the atrocity. When he finds the slumbering princess in his bed, he recognizes her as the seductress from his erotic dreams and is thrilled, until she request his help in getting back to avenge her parents deaths. That wasn’t in his plans, so adios, princess.

What a great adult spin on a classic fairytale! Jill Monroe hit it spot on and I loved it. It was the perfect follow up and next addition to the Royal House of Shadows series. Breena at first comes across as somewhat naïve and entitled, but that is not her true character. She has a core of steel, stubbornness, and is becoming quite adept at using her feminine wiles. She is a master manipulator at getting Osborn to do what she wants even though sometimes it leaves her black and blue. It’s not what you think! He’s training her to fight, although he does carry the spirit of the bear, so there is some animal passion going on. Like I said, this is an adult fairytale. This story makes some intriguing advances in the series plot line, and makes me incredibly impatient to read the next book. It’s like eating potato chips. I mean really who stops at two? I gobbled up this fun, sexy and exciting read as fast as Breena ate Osborn’s oatmeal. This is a must read book from a must read series. Do not miss out on even one word.
