Review:
Aubrey Ross’s Dichotomy:
Tall, dark and mysterious, or blond, tanned and fun loving. The terrible choices some women have to make. But what if there is no need to choose? Such is the non-dilemma of Chelsea when her trip to Chimera gives her not just one dream mate, but two. During the day she finds herself in the playful arms of Ray, and by night the passionate embrace of Delano.
This is definitely a best of all worlds story. Every girl wants to be desired by a hot guy, two guys is even better; getting to keep both is just having your cake and eating it too. Luckily the guys are of the same mind...and the same body.
This story is fun because the reader knows the secret that Chelsea does not, leaving them feeling like a conspirator rather then a passive observer. The sex is varied and spicy, which keeps it from feeling too repetitive in such a short story.
Willa Okati’s Under Your Spell
This story does not take place on the island proper, but above it. It is also worth noting that the main characters do not actually meet until the very end. These two factors combine to make a story with a rather different dynamic.
Also, this story is rather...preachy, with one characters teaching the other a lesson in relationship in a rather heavy handed fashion. While a story that teaches something is not in and of itself bad, it really should not be so boldly spelled out for the reader.
Stephanie Burke’s Taboo
Of the three stories, this one is by far the funniest, with most of the story taken up by the main characters getting smashed while trying to get laid. They subsequently run into every mythological creature the author could think up, including a Were Bee. And for fun, see if you can spot the nod to continuity.
Like the previous story of this anthology, this one also has the characters learning about themselves, but in a fashion that is far more enjoyable to read about.
Overall, I enjoyed this anthology far more than its predecessor.
