This summer things would be different.

Ben and June have been summer friends since they could barely walk. As the years pass the friendship changes, until the year they turn eighteen they both know being just friends doesn't cut it any longer.

June bug is a story of innocence and unwavering love, a story of two young people who discover that love also has a deeply physical side.
------------------------------------------------------
Warnings: contains graphic descriptions of sex between consenting adults, nudity, swimming, mention of lobsters, and mathematics (you have been warned!)

Review:
A sizzling coming of age story, June and Ben reminded me of when times were simpler and innocence was abundant. What I wouldn't give back to go back in time. This story brought back some old memories, only this time I was remembering through the eyes of Ben and June. One of the funniest parts of the book was June herself. She was a girl who needed a filter on her mouth, and wow that sure took me down memory lane as well. June's character was bold and one who knew what she wanted out of life. The scenes between Ben and June's father were priceless and so much like the "I'm going to kill you if you look at my daughter wrong" scenarios. It was brilliant.

I've never had the opportunity to read any of JT Harding's work and I must say that I am pleasantly surprised. This was a very short book but evoked a lot of emotions that I forgot all about. I definitely look forward to reading more from this author. Now, how do I go back in time to when I was 18 and where is the closest sand dune?

Tick—a killer's countdown begins, but...
A rash of horrifying crimes tears through the city, throwing it into complete chaos and terrorizing everyone living there. Immediately, it becomes clear that they are not the work of an amateur, but of a calculating, efficient, and deadly mastermind.

Tick—can Michael Bennett catch him before...
The city calls on Detective Michael Bennett, pulling him away from a seaside retreat with his ten adopted children, his grandfather, and their beloved nanny, Mary Catherine. Not only does it tear apart their first vacation since Michael's wife Maeve died—it leaves the entire family open to attack.

Tock—your time is up.
Bennett enlists the help of a former colleague, FBI Agent Emily Parker. As his affection for Emily grows into something stronger, his relationship with Mary Catherine takes an unexpected turn. All too soon, another appalling crime leads Bennett to a shocking discovery that exposes the killer's pattern and the earth-shattering enormity of his plan. From the creator of the #1 New York detective series comes the most volatile and most explosive Michael Bennett novel ever.

Review:
I love all of the Michael Bennett books and this one was no different. Action packed, mayhem everywhere you turn with a splash of romantic interests, Tick Tock had it all. With evil lurking at every turn, it was almost impossible to stop reading this book. The inquisitive side of me just had to know how it would end.

I adore Michael Bennett's character because his character is very realistic. He finds himself attracted to Emily Parker but something about Mary Catherine has Michael looking at her in a very different light. I found myself wanting to learn more about Mary Catherine than just her just being the nanny and an art student, but perhaps it was intentional that the authors did not let me get to know her as much as I liked. This is a murder mystery after all.

One element of the book that I had a small problem with was how many children Michael had. It seems to me that with that many children, chaos would reign 24/7 and most of the time Michael was an absentee father. Not by choice but still, not there. With those two small issues aside, I fell in love with the book. It was truly an edge of your seat suspense.

I reviewed the audiobook version of Tick Tock and for me, that's the only way to go. The audiobook is narrated by Bobby Cannavale & Scott Sowers and they do an outstanding job of bringing this book to life. If you're not sure if this might be the book for you (and trust me when I say, it is a highly entertaining read), as of right now you can get a preview of the first 28 chapters, Kindle edition on Amazon for free. So fire up that Kindle and getting ready for a wild ride.

When Paula's husband leaves her to "find himself" after years in a good marriage, she is devastated. Adding to her hurt and anger, he joins a band and dates the band's sexy young singer. Forced to start over again in the job market, she goes back to school for a degree in Special Education. Here she meets Derek, a retired naval officer, back in college to qualify for a second career. As Paula learns to cope in a whole new world, she is surprised to "find herself" falling in love again. Starting over proves to be better than she could have imagined.

Review:
Summer Love is the type of book that hits really close to home for me. Although I am not an older woman, I found Paula to be a character that I could fully identify with. Paula's entire world was shattered when her husband left. Alone and trying to pick up the pieces of her life, all types of adventures lie before her and so do all sorts of potential love interests. One man, however is there for her from the beginning and doesn't plan on going anywhere.

Derek's character was oh so yummy. Good looking and a pleasant distraction in Paula's life, he was just what Paula needed at that particular moment in her life. Along the way, some of his choices distracted me a bit until the end, where it all made sense.
I enjoyed watching Paula grow throughout the book. With each page she became just a little bit stronger than the page before. It tickled me when she confronted her ex mother in law. I felt like cheering out loud for her. She slowly felt more confident in herself and it showed to all of those around her.

This was a fascinating book that dealt with an issue that a lot of women face today. Ms. Swift has captured the "distraught in the beginning, strong as steel in the end" type of woman. Through struggles, disappointments, tears, laughter and a whole lot of humor, Summer Love is a must read book for those who love to read heart-wrenching, enchanting and genuine romances. I look forward to reading more of Ms. Swifts work.

Harley Taizer wasn’t used to dealing with her greedy parents. They’d never wanted her and had made it perfectly clear by giving her to her grandfather the day she'd been born. It’s funny how things change when money is involved. Discovering her trust fund, her parents show up demanding she give them the money. Afraid of just how far his son and daughter in-law will go, her grandfather brings in a security specialist to help.

Kasper Drake hasn’t met a trust fund baby he liked, though he is one himself. Upon meeting his uncle’s newest client he’s willing to throw all his preconceived notions out the window. He’s trying to get Harley to admit to their fierce attraction when her father shows up demanding to know Kasper's identity. She tells him that he’s her fiancĂ©e. Kasper latches onto her lie hoping to make her see how good it could be.

Review:
With exciting characters and a fun filled plot line, The Millionaire's Fake Fiance was a book that kept me on my toes. Not just with the events occurring during the story but with the white hot passion. Whew, I had to fan myself a couple of times throughout this story. Right from the beginning I could tell this was a scorching hot couple.

I just had to stop and take a dreamy sigh at the way Kasper protected Harley and just the little things like putting his hand on the small of her back gave me the goosebumps and had me smiling. Kasper is the kind of man Harley deserved and I was impressed at what a take charge kind of man he was. Especially during the scene where he tells Harley's mom that he's going to marry her daughter.

Harley's character was one that I bonded with immediately. She was an unselfish woman who just happened to have very greedy parents. Raised by her grandfather, she worked for everything she had. While Harley was shocked that she had a huge trust fund just waiting for her, her parents already had plans for that trust fund and everything else that Harley can lay claim to. For Harley, it was difficult to transition from the woman who hated hurting anybody to the daughter who had to tell her parents to back off.

Alfred, the grandfather, what can I say, I love the old man to pieces. There were scenes where I got close enough to his character to feel his hurt and disappointment but on the other hand I was touched by his love for Harley. He would do anything to protect her, and Kasper was the one person who Alfred could count on to take good care of his baby girl.

The Millionaire's Fake Fiancee is a book that is not to be missed. Ms. Sawyer has written an exceptional book that stands out from a lot of books in this genre. I will definitely be reading over and over. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a lot of sizzle in a book that is sure to be favorite.

She struggles with her gifts and prays for help in her life. When her Angel appears, will Jaime's prayer's for understanding and guidance be fulfilled? Read this book and find out!

Review:
Jamie and the Angel is such a beautiful story written on a level that children can understand. The illustrations done by Richa Kinra make the book feel familiar and inviting. I firmly believe that angels exist and I wish I had this book as my children were growing up as it explains God's gifts on a level that all can understand. As soon as I finished this book, my first inclination was to say "Awwwwwwww".

On the last page of the book is a letter to the parents with helpful tips on how to tune into their childs (or their own) spiritual gifts. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is in search of their spiritual gifts. What you may think is just your child's imaginary friend, in all actuality could be an angel. Don't miss this book, it was a pure pleasure to read.

A man from another time…

Faelan is from an ancient clan of Scottish Highland warriors, charged with shielding humanity from demonic forces. Betrayed and locked in a time vault, he has been sleeping for nearly two centuries when spunky historian Bree Kirkland inadvertently wakes him. She’s more fearsome than the demon trying to kill him, and if he’s not careful, she’ll uncover the secrets his clan has bled and died to protect…

Could be the treasure she’s been seeking all her life…
When Bree inherits an old treasure map, she discovers a warrior buried in her backyard. But the warrior isn’t dead. Bree shocks Faelan with her modern dress and her boldness, and he infuriates Bree every time he tries to protect her.

With demons suddenly on the move, Bree discovers that Faelan’s duty as protector is in his blood, and that her part in this fight was destined before she was born. But nothing is ever what it seems…

Review:

Bree Kirkland was sure all her archeological dreams had come true when she unearthed the treasure map in her grandmother’s house. When the map leads her to a vault in the family’s old crypt, she doesn’t know what kind of treasure to expect. What she doesn’t expect to find is a kilted warrior nearly taking her head off. Faelen Connor is a Warrior from the 1800’s, whose sole job it is to hunt down and suspend the demon, Druan. He has been locked away in the vault for over a hundred and fifty years. While he is initially attracted to Bree, he realizes he knows nothing about her or this time. He doesn’t intend to fail again and if Bree is in league with the demons then she too must die.

Reading this book was like childbirth. It was an at times, painfully wrenching experience, with lots of sweating, crying, cursing, some laughter, and at the end you have this beautiful creation that was worth every bit of that effort. I cussed more at this book than I do during March Madness and that is A LOT! Not because I wasn’t enjoying the book but because I was so heavily invested. This was truly an emotional rollercoaster. I would go from laughing hysterically over Faelan’s trying to fit into modern life, and then grabbing a Kleenex when he visits his family’s graves. Bree is an awesome heroine. She is every bit the warrior Faelen is and then some, because she has to put up with his mistrust and archaic views on women.

There are some very nice love scenes that occur between Faelen and Bree, but they are merely a side note. In Awaken the Highland Warrior, the story and the characters are the thing. I think any more lengthy or graphic emphasis on the sexual component would have detracted from the intricate plot. The reader is introduced to Faelen’s fellow Warriors, and they are a wonderfully tasty hint of what is to come in future books. I really, really want the next installment of this series. If it’s even a fraction as good as this one, it will be awesome.

Blurb:

Enter the world of the Dark Dynasties . . . For centuries, shapeshifting vampire Tynan MacGillivray has prowled the night as an outcast, valued only for his ferocious hunting skills. When a feud among the immortals escalates into all-out war, he is ordered by his ruthless queen to locate a Seer-a human woman with a special gift-who can secure victory for their clan. Ty's search leads him to a quiet New England town, but once he has the Seer in his grasp, her touch awakens within him a hunger like he's never known .

Review:

Tynan MacGillivray drew the short straw in life and in death. Born to dirt poor Scottish parents as a human, as a vampire he bears the mark of the Cat Sithe. The gutterblooods of the vampire hierarchy. Tolerated only because of his hunting abilities and his blind dedication to the Ptolemy dynasty, Tynan is, if not quite satisfied with his place in the world, aware that he has it far better than most of his Cat Sithe brothers. Charged by his queen to find a human seer to help stop the deadly curse killing off the Ptolemy vampires, Tynan’s quest leads him to Lily Quinn.

Lily has always been different. An orphan, her adoptive parents were afraid of her bizarre differences and sent her away. Now living an assuming life as an English Lit professor, Quinn tries to remain as innocuous as possible. Against her will, she is now part of a life and death struggle that will turn the hidden world of vampire dynasties upside down.

I am always thrilled when I find a new spin on the vampire mystique, and Dark Awakening certainly fit’s the bill. An amazing story of ancient dynasties, class divisions, curses and blood feuds, this book has opened new and exciting views into vampire worlds. This is a superbly detailed and well crafted story that had me mesmerized from the first page. I loved the fact that Tynan was more or less an anti-hero. He had accepted his pathetic lot as a vampire and saw the only way to change his circumstance as true death. He had an arduous journey to get to the Tynan we see at the end of the book, and I was rooting for him all the way. Lily was more difficult to get a handle on because the reader is never exactly sure what role she will play in this drama. She was much more compassionate than I would have been towards Tynan during the heart of their story. She has a difficult journey filled with life altering discoveries of her own to deal with, and dealing with Tynan’s revelations and metamorphosis made her an uber heroine in my eyes. The cast of secondary characters proffered lots of delicious possibilities for future books that I will highly anticipate. The problem with such a new and detailed book is there is so much information I want to impart, but the most important thing I can say is READ THIS BOOK.

Their agreement will ensure he’ll never have to give up his desire for domination, forbidden pleasures, and multiple lovers. But Drako’s chosen prey is also hiding something. And if her secret doesn’t destroy them, the explosive passion she ignites just might…

Review:

Drako is hiding behind the façade of a billionaire playboy in reality he is a protector of humanity and its secrets. He must marry soon and once he meets Rin he sees a woman that will solve more than one problem. You see Drako likes to play and not many women would be willing to engage in the BDSM lifestyle that he enjoys. Hopefully he has found the right woman to help him.

I really liked the relationship between Rin and Drako. Drako is a great man who wants to be honorable to Rin but she pushes past his walls and shows him what love can be like. Rin is a good woman who fights and cares for all of those that she loves. The love that develops between the two makes for a wonderful read.  As the two are figuring out their own feelings there is a threat that must be dealt with. Drako must now decide if the love he feels can be a help or a hindrance with his life as one of the Black Gryffons.  I will remind readers that this is an erotic BDSM book and that it includes some explicit sex scenes. It was nice to see the bond that the two develops between Rin and Drako. The trust that they have only comes once in a lifetime and you must grab it when you can.

I would love to find out more about Drako’s brothers and their world in more books. Darkest fire is a hot and sexy read that should not be missed.

Into his life she came—wanting…willing…wanton.

It’s no ordinary morning when Toni arrives at Zach’s garage. Flat broke, with a past she won’t share, Toni is instantly taken by such a potently virile man. Direct and unashamed, she tells him she’s a motorcycle performance artist who needs work and knows motors.

Zach knows women, and Toni is unlike any he’s met. Lushly sensuous, exceedingly assured, she’d easily be his match in business and bed. A provocative challenge that stirs him as nothing has since losing his wife. A chance he’s reluctant to take. He offers no more than a month’s employment then she’ll have to be on her way.

The hours tick by. Each word and glance intensifies their escalating desire, forcing them to surrender to passion and Toni’s need for Zach’s dominance. Driven by carnal hunger, conquered by yearning, they face the unforeseen truth of Toni’s past and a future neither of them expected.

Review:

When Toni shows up at Zach’s auto shop asking for a job Zach never thought his life would change so much. From the beginning Zach is reluctant to give Toni a chance but give her a chance he does. The sparks ignite between the two right from the start and a fire quickly begins to burn between them. Both are afraid of loosing their hearts but will their reluctance be their downfall?

Sensual Stranger is a wonderful read. Not only is this a hot story but it is also a beautiful love story. I loved both Zach and Toni. Each one endears themselves to the reader in their own way. Zach is a strong man who lives with much regret and constantly looks to the past while Toni is a spirited woman looking to forget her past. The intense feelings that both Zach and Toni feel for each other make this book a great read. The two begin to fall in love with each other but are unwilling to tell the other and all because of assumptions. I could not help but hope that Toni and Zach would be able to work through their fears and find their happy ever after that they could have.

I am a big fan of Tina Donahue’s books and once again I found myself getting lost in a great story written by a talented author making this a book that should not be missed.

Keenan Swanson is your typical, everyday graphic designer. Well, except for the hundreds of pesky, prank-loving poltergeists that make his life interesting (in a Chinese curse sort of way). He finds his situation precarious yet manageable—until witty, smoking-hot coworker Isabella enters the scene and Keenan decides he wants her all for himself. With a horny succubus who has other ideas, a burly city cop determined to lock Keenan away, and an evil entity who’s hell-bent on using Keenan’s seed to create a living demon, the reluctant psychic realizes he just might not come out of this alive—or with heart intact.

Review:

Everyone thought Keenan Swanson was a fry short of a happy meal because he was always talking to himself or to people no one else could see or hear. There was a perfectly logical explanation of course, Keenan sees, hears, and is usually surrounded by ghosts. Keenan is really attracted to the new head of HR at his graphic design firm, but  his life and sanity are rapidly sliding downhill. He has now become the entrĂ©e of choice for a succubus, and if that weren’t enough he is now on a police sergeant’s radar.

Not everybody can like every book, and reviews are very subjective to personal taste and quirks. Although technically well written, this book just did not do it for me. I couldn’t connect with any of the characters, and for me the plot was just too busy with too many secondary characters moving in and out constantly. The main character, Keenan,  to me was not that likable.  I don’t like to give spoilers, but there are a plethora of ghosts, nosey obnoxious neighbors, multiple reincarnations, demons, angels, betrayals and infidelity (which is a huge no-no for me). I do believe there is an audience for this book, unfortunately I am not amongst it.

Her dreams are fulfilled when she meets ranger and ship captain Galadin Trudeaux. But, when secrets from the past bring tragedy to those she loves, Caliphany must fight to hold on to the life she's always wanted.

Review:

Caliphany Aranea was the absolute elite of the elven kingdom. Niece to King Leopold and daughter to the most powerful mage in the land, she is expected to follow the course set by her father and fulfill her responsibilities to her family. Caliphany wants to live her own life and find her own destiny. Having snuck away to the docks, she is accosted and would have been taken, if not for the timely rescue of Captain Galadin Trudeaux, half elven captain of the Red Hawk, former pirate and Ranger. Cali bribes Galadin into training her as a Ranger while her father is abroad. Myriad adventures and discoveries begin for Cali and Galadin in an often hostile but beautiful and fantastical world of magic, mystical beings and love.

This was a difficult review because this is not normally a genre that I would choose, so I was completely surprised by how involved I became in the story. The fantastical world created by the author became very real to me and as a reader that is a very good thing. I also became heavily invested in the characters, especially Galadin, he was true hero material. Perhaps that is why Caliphany irritated me so much. I love an independent and strong heroine, and Caliphany had these characteristics in spades……but, she was also a drama queen and a tad self involved. There is a scene at the end of the book where Galadin has finally had enough. He rips Caliphany a new one. I stood up and cheered. It was magnificent. Not to worry though, it is a romance after all. An interesting facet of this book is in the way it was written. It is in first person, but the point of view changes from character to character. I liked this. The sexual content was mild and not very graphic at all. This is the debut novel in the new series Tallenmere. The second book will tell Jayden’s story, who I got to know quite well in A Ranger’s Tale. It looks to be very promising and I will have to check it out.

This is book one in the series, the book that introduces the reader to the wonderful world of Ra’s Chosen. These warriors are on a quest to keep the humans safe from the evil that hides in the night. Each and every one of them is a wonderful man and in this book we get to read Mehen and Blythe’s story.

Will Mehen figure out what is going on before it is to late or will he finally push Blythe away?

I really enjoyed this book. I was pulled into the world of Ra’s Chosen and their fight, right from the start. Blythe is a great woman who can and does stand on her own. She will not let any of the warriors push her around especially Mehen. She fights and stands by her man no matter what. Mehen is a good man who fights for those that he cares about, which now includes Blythe. The two are a wonderful couple and go through so much before they can find their happy ever after. Seeing the pain that Blythe goes through you can only hope that Mehen will finally see that they are meant to be. I adored the relationships that each warrior formed with Blythe. Showing the reader that each warrior is a special man in his own way and keeping us wanting to see who will find their mate next.

Marisa Chenery weaves a wonderful story that not only brings together romance and paranormal but also includes humor making Soul Hunger a great read. This is a great start to a wonderful series.

Traveling forward in time, Dani Howard's spirit becomes magically united with reporter, Troy Brennan. He's everything a girl could want in a man, and during their time together, she falls deeply in love. Though she must return to her own body, she gains his promise to come to her birthday party in seven days time where they will meet in person and continue their romance.

Troy can't believe he's fallen for a sixteen-year-old spirit invader. He's so infatuated that when renowned author, beautiful Ellie Ward, comes on to him, as attractive as he finds her, he's honor bound to stay true to his young love—or is he?

Review:
I don't think I've ever read a spirit traveling book until now and I must say I think this is a fascinating subject. What was most intriguing was how the author accounted for every question I could possibly have pertaining to this particular time travel. As much as I loved the plot line in the book, what I will forever remember about this book is it made me laugh. Not just a little bit, but with Mrs. Dorn's shenanigans I laughed out loud constantly.

Dani's character, although only 16 "going on 17" , is far too grown up for her own good. She is witty, intelligent and speaks from her heart. Having to put up with a mother that is hard to please and controlling, Dani finds refuge with her uncle. The one man in her life that brings sunshine to her rainy days. Troy is a handsome investigative reporter who has honed his ability to retrieve the information he needs from those who may be less than willing. He's charming, dedicated to his job and is a softy on the inside no matter what he might portray on the outside.

There is no doubt as to the chemistry between Dani and Troy. However, the one thing that impressed me the most was these two were able to nurture a spiritual bond (since Troy was not able to physically see Dani) rather than the physical "love at first sight" element that is often found in romance books. As their affection for one another increased, so did the humor of their situation. Dani was that voice inside Troy's head that just would not shut up. I often wondered if he slipped from time to time and argued with Dani out loud while there were people around. It was often that Troy was left at a loss for words because Dani was not like any other woman he had ever had the pleasure of keeping company with.

So much happens throughout the story that I just can't touch on for the simple fact that it would spoil it for you. Humor, heartbreak, silliness and sensual tension made this a book that will most certainly be staying on my "to be read again" shelf. Together Again is part of a series but having not read any of the previous books, this book can certainly stand on it's own. Ms. Barbour gives just a hint of the books before (and a possible book in the future) which was enough to tantalize me into reading the entire series. I am a series kind of girl, so this book is just the beginning for me. I would like to take this moment to congratulate Ms. Barbour on a job well done. I look forward to reading the other books in the series. This is definitely a book that I highly recommend.

Blurb:
Undercover mercenary Trace Rivers loves the adrenaline rush of a well-planned mission. First he’ll earn the trust of corrupt businessman Murray Coburn, then gather the proof he needs to shut down the man’s dirty smuggling operation. It’s a perfect scheme—until Coburn’s long-lost daughter saunters in with her own deadly plan for revenge.

With a smile like an angel and fire in her eyes, Priscilla Patterson isn’t who she seems to be. But neither is the gorgeous bodyguard who ignites all her senses. Joining forces to plot Coburn’s downfall, Priss and Trace must fight the undeniable heat between them. For one wrong move, one lingering embrace, will expose them to the wrath of a merciless opponent….

Review:
After his sister was taken by a human trafficking ring, Trace is determined to take as many of the monsters down as possible. He has finally worked his way into a major player’s inner circle, when Priscilla Patterson shows up threatening to blow his cover and his opportunity to nail this creep. Priss has her own reasons to take down Murray Coburn, and she’s not buying Trace’s bad guy cover. She’s not the type to sit back and let a man run the show, but Trace is the one with the gun and he has decided Priss needs to sit this one out.

I was hard pressed to believe Lori Foster could top When You Dare, the first book in this series. Boy, did she shatter that theory. Trace of Fever is absolutely riveting and will not allow you to stop reading. (even when you really, really need to) From the first sentence I was captured. I didn’t get to know Trace that well in the first book, but he is just terrific. A big gorgeous blonde who is protective and honorable, plus he has that panty dropping “MINE” mentality that just slays me. The nail in my coffin, however, was his affinity for Liger, the big Maine Coon cat. A tough guy who likes cats owns my soul.

Priss was a wonderful paradox for me. Raised in relative isolation, she should be awkward and not able to conform to the part she wants to portray, but she’s tough and resilient, and not willing to forgo her vengeance for anyone. Good on ya mate! I really enjoyed her little streak of utter viciousness, it’s something I highly recommend for all romance heroines. Another surprise was that even though Priss was a relative innocent, she was the proprietress of a porn shop. What a hoot! Talk about your home schooling.

I was so distraught when this book ended, I really wanted to keep reading more of this wonderful story. If you haven’t started this series yet, you must. I would never forgive myself if I had let this one get away. It keeps getting exponentially better. I’m almost scared to read Jackson’s book, it just might ruin me for everything else.

Review by Val
Is it possible for me to love two men? Yes, it is. I thought Dare from When You Dare was my favorite hero of all time but now I am torn. Trace is a to die for hottie with a very edgy side until he meets Priss and then all bets are off. My favorite parts of the book are when he can no longer contain himself with Priss. Trace is the kind of guy who is prepared NO MATTER WHAT, yet finds himself injured by little bitty Priss. I don't mean emotionally injured, I mean physically. That scene had me giggling.

If there is one heroine that I do not want to mess with, it's Priss. When she has a goal in mind, don't try to stop her just move out of the way. She is a strong character with a gritty past, which actually serves her purpose throughout the story. I wish I could state examples here of the plot line but there are so many twists and turns that it might give it away. I just cannot bring myself to do that.

I enjoyed being able to revisit Dare, Molly, Chris, the dogs and LOVED Matt's character. Affectionately known as "Hairdresser", he made me laugh so hard. Trace of Fever deals with heavy subject matter that I think a lot of other authors just couldn't pull off. Ms Foster is one of the best. Sexual tension is laced throughout this book and very often I might add. This one element alone had me captivated. I was up all night reading Trace of Fever and I hated to see it end. In the epilogue (I am a lover of epilogues) we are introduced to Jackson in more depth. He gets his own book Savor the Danger which comes out toward the end of June I believe. Savor the Danger is already on my list to buy and I can't wait until it comes out. You really do have to read this entire series. Romantic suspense at it's finest, there is never a dull moment. I highly recommend this entire series to those who love a juicy story line with some breathtaking characters.

Reviewer: Val

Blurb:
High-profile courtroom dramas fascinate our nation, especially when they concern the rich and famous. And while the American public has come to realize that the spin factor is a prime ingredient in political tactics and marketing campaigns, many are unaware of the strategies for shaping public opinion when it comes to major courtroom battles.
This behind-the-scenes analysis of media strategies presents an intriguing, often entertaining curriculum that they do not teach in law school or journalism classes. As the lead counsel in some of the country's most notable cases and a savvy legal commentator with hundreds of television appearances, author Kendall Coffey brings a distinctive combination of depth as a legal practitioner and experience as a media analyst to this insightful, provocative, and practical book.

Review:
I am the type of person when a case is highly publicized, I will do all I can to find the about the specifics in the case. What we are led to believe in the media may not necessarily be the truth. Why? Because it's all about the spin on the case. It's not as though lies are being thrown at the media mainstream but rather a deflection of sorts.

Throughout the book, you will find little captions of what to pay particular attention to under the Spinning Lesson headline. These little nuggets of information are something you don't want to miss. These lessons not only intrigued me but also had me looking at everything from a very different perspective. I learned a lot about how the lawyer will use facts within the case to actually sway public opinion in a different direction. Which in turn makes you understand how the most savvy lawyers make the ungodly amounts of money they do. They earn every single penny of it.

Spinning the Law not only covers cases in our lifetimes such as Scott Peterson, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jackson and Martha Stewart but also touches on Joan of Arc (which was my personal favorite), Charles Lindbergh and Levi Weeks. Each case is written with background information that you may not have known along with a brief history which makes each case more entertaining than the one before. Even though you may not be very lawyer savvy, this book will break down public opinion of high profile cases for you in the most intriguing way.

Kendall Coffey has done an outstanding job with the documentation and has provided extensive references in the back of the book. Spinning the Law is a must read for those who follow public trials as well as lawyers. The fact that this book covers such a large readership base should tell you that it is both entertaining and educational. You will never look at public opinion in the same way again. I highly recommend this book to anyone!

Jason Craft is a vampire on a mission. Destroy the last of the rogue vampires he’s been enlisted to hunt and he’ll be released from a century old vow made to his creator. Freedom from his obligation is so close he can taste it.

Jazmine FabrĂ© has spent the last fifteen years caring for her adopted younger brother, a vampire with autism, who was attacked and turned by her very own sire. All she wants is justice on his behalf and as fate would have it, Jazmine’s sire is next on Jason’s hit list.

Thrown together on a mission to hunt him down, they find more than they bargained for on their quest…they find each other. As the hunt heats up, they soon discover how hard it is to take down an enemy when they don’t know who it really is.

Will hidden secrets and betrayal destroy them before they have a chance start a life? Or were their lives fated for separate paths all along?

Hunting can be a dangerous sport when the prey has all the ammunition.

Review:

In The Betrayal, Jason Craft is an enigma. He’s a vampire assassin, killing rogue vampires while pining for a love lost long ago. Immediately you know this isn’t an ordinary vamp. Robin Badillo shows us his vulnerability up front, but one can’t afford to get snared by that. She writes him lovingly and in great detail and this reviewer can tell Ms. Badillo has an extra-soft spot for him, but Jason is as deadly as they come. He’s given up much for the sake of his liege and it’s a bitter pill, sending him to alcohol and rendering him immune to much physical contact with the opposite sex.

He’s numb.

Paired with a dark-haired spitfire on his latest assignment, Jason is attracted, but that cannot interfere with his duty. He’ll do it and he’ll do it well.

Jazmine has her secrets, making amends for the faults of her own sire. The man on her hit list is Jason’s next target and though she’s not happy to be hunting alongside play boy Jason, it isn’t long before these two are burning up the sheets.

I adored Ms. Badillo’s writing style and flow. Secrets are everywhere in this story, and Ms. Badillo draws it out slowly and intricately. There were some I saw coming and some I didn’t. I enjoyed this journey into The Hunter’s world, and especially can’t wait for the next installment. Judging by the tears that stung this reviewer’s eyes at The Betrayal’s epilogue, it’s gonna be a doozie.

Now he’s suddenly the face of gay rights in America and trying to deal with his new responsibility while coping with his overwhelming grief. He’s got his hands full without the complications of a new love, but his heart’s not waiting for him to catch up.

Commercial pilot Dustin McDonough knows what it’s like to deal with loss. He has his own set of scars, physical and emotional. He’s trying to give Stuart the time and space he needs to be ready to move on, but he’s in love for the first time in years, and he’s determined not to lose again.

Review:

I fell in love instantly and totally with the characters, and story of M. Jules Aedin’s Paper Planes. Ms. Aedin tackles the oft-asked question, when is it appropriate to move on after a devastating loss, and blends that emotional subject with the very pain of loss and uncertainty of new love.

Stuart Grange has lost his lover and is thrust into the limelight, doing speaking engagements on his life and loss as a gay man. Moving from airport to airport, he’s really doing his best to cope under the pressure and scrutiny. He’s exhaustion is evident, as is his growing disillusion with the public appearances. He wants to help, wants to do his part, but can’t help feeling a little taken advantage off. Ms. Aedin writes Stuart as immediately sympathetic, but not at any time does one feel sorry for him. He’s strong and capable, going about his life, missing his lost lover.

His attraction to pilot Dustin McDonough is surprising to Stuart, but I liked that he’s not at all horrified by it. The slow transition from long distance friends to long distance lovers was well suited to the story. Nothing felt rushed about the way these men fell in love. They’ve both known loss and pain, and take nothing for granted. Though this story was written in first person, I didn’t feel left out of Dustin’s head. Ms. Aedin made it so the reader didn’t need anything else to get the emotion, the love. The sex…ah, the sex. While hot and delicious, it remained tasteful and true to the story line, and its characters.

This eagle-eyed reviewer may have sniffed out a couple more stories waiting to be told. In fact, word from a very credible source has at least four more in the works. I can’t wait to delve back into Ms. Aedin’s writing world. She’s already made it that I didn’t want Paper Planes to end.

The breed guaranteed Mica no harm would come to her, but they never allowed for her sensual fascination with Navarro, or his unstoppable need to claim her as his mate, in both body and soul.

Review:

Mica had been fascinated by the wolf breed Navarro as long as she can remember, but she was one of the few that knew about the mating heat and the problems that come with it, so she avoided Navarro as much as possible. Navarro knew he had a troubling attraction to Mica and that those feelings were returned, but as a breed trained to be a liar, he knew he never wanted to be mated, and besides all indicators said Mica was not his mate. So why can’t he leave her alone?

I truly love this series and Lora Leigh as an author, but I must say I have some real issues with this book. First of all, we learned from Mercury’s book that mating test can be wrong, and that each mating does not necessarily follow any prescribed guidelines. Problem two, after Phillip Brandemore escapes Sanctuary’s containment cell for the SECOND time, almost killing Mica, he should have been put down, period. Problem three, Navarro is able to circumvent biology and disregard the mating bond, making Mica feel totally unlovable and fundamentally broken to the core. I mean how bad must he NOT want to be with her, right? I know what to expect from this series, because I have followed from the first book. I know the heroes are damaged from the labs, way too dominant, dogmatic, and stubborn. However, they always pay a price for that. There is usually some occurrence that leads to groveling and well justified repentance. I didn’t find that in Navarro’s Promise.

I know it doesn’t sound like it so far, but I did like the book. I actually waited twenty-four hours to write the review so some of the teeth gnashing wouldn’t be so obvious. When I truly love a series, my expectations are always much higher, and therefore easier for the book to fall short. The story did progress the series plot, and it is always a joy to see the old friends from past books. Cassie Sinclair played a major role in this book and I am hoping that means her story is imminent. Being a book from Lora Leigh, you know it was smoking hot. I was really glad to see that some of her erotic elements made a welcome reappearance. They had been conspicuously missing for awhile. Regardless of the issues I had, I still recommend this book and strongly recommend the Breed series.

She may be aloof, and more pretty than gorgeous, but Alani Rivers is the kind of woman a hot-blooded mercenary can't forget, no matter how hard he tries. So when Jackson Savor wakes up next to the naked, sleeping beauty—with no memory of what happened— he knows he's been drugged…even if Alani doesn't.

After she was kidnapped, Alani vowed never to trust another man again. Still, something about this strong, sexy hero with the tender touch makes her want to believe him. As Jackson hunts down a mysterious intruder, he swears he'll move heaven and earth to keep Alani safe. But what really happened that night? And will the truth bring them closer than they ever thought possible—or put Alani squarely in harm's way again?

Review:

Jackson Savor knew the first time he laid eyes on his boss's younger sister, Alani, that he wanted her in his bed something fierce. Since she was still recovering from a kidnapping a little over a year ago, he hadn’t pushed as hard as he might have, but the simmering attraction was always there between them. It seems all his dreams have come true when he wakes up buck naked with Alani in his bed. The only problem is he can’t remember a single thing about the day before.

Just when I think this series can’t possibly get any better, I read the next book. I looked up from reading and saw I was on page 404 of a 411 page book and almost cried because it would soon be over. Nintey percent of the books I read are from the paranormal romance genre, but Lori Foster is an author that I never miss. Her books transcend all boundaries and just pull you right into her world. I absolutely loved the fact that Alani is the only one who can remember how thoroughly raunchy Jackson was that first night and she taunts him with it continuously. I also loved that he poured out his heart and soul to her and can’t remember a blessed word. You know what else I loved about Jackson? A big blonde, tough guy rescues a scruffy stray cat …enough said. Jackson is also one of the most sexually obsessed heroes I have run across in awhile. He either said or thought “boner” about fifty times. Reading about him trying to balance his attraction to Alani while handling Trace’s and Dare’s reaction to it is too funny. I loved the humor and sarcasm the three men throw around like hand grenades.

Of course, there is danger and all kinds threats looming to disrupt the good times. From Alani’s spurned ex to a very nasty criminal element from Jackson’s secretive past. While Alani is not quite as tough as the previous two heroines, Molly and Priss, she is the perfect genteel lady to offset Jackson’s laid back, off beat attitude. A couple of new and very interesting characters are brought into the mix that I am praying will lead to more of this series. Once again, there is nothing I would change about this book and give it my highest recommendation. This is an absolute MUST read series.

Jackson Kellar's determined to do right by his bride, yet he's torn between his newfound love for Sarah and his still-burning desire for Nate.

Ranch owner Nate Campbell loves them both. He hates to see Jackson's loyalties so divided, and doesn't want Sarah hurt either. How can they fix the tangled mess they find themselves in? Nate suggests a possible solution—a permanent threesome.

With the open frontier closing in around them, is Nate's solution their path to happiness—or will others destroy what they've found together?

Review:

When virginal Sarah McLeod spies on Jackson Kellar and Nate Campbell in her father’s barn, she has no idea of the drama about to unfold. In 1887, two men could be hanged for what Sarah witnessed, but fortunately her father jumps to the wrong conclusion when he finds Sarah in the barn with Jackson and Nate. Forced into a marriage, Jackson and Sarah have a unique situation to deal with. Especially since Nate wishes he’d been the one to marry Sarah.

What a wonderfully innovative book. I never pondered the problems of a bi-sexual male in 1880 Texas. Tangled Past tells a gripping and lovely, erotic tale of what that might have been like. Not only is Jackson bi-sexual, but he is also, like Sarah, part Native American. My heart hurt for poor Nate who feels he is now doomed to live a life of solitude. He watches the man and woman that he loves with envy and jealousy knowing he is reduced to the platonic role of close friend. It was just heartbreaking. The journey these three take to build a life together is an emotional tug of war, at times blissful and sometimes agonizing. The fear of being found out by small minded townsfolk haunts them all. This is in addition to the trials and tribulations of cattle ranching in the !800’s. Not an easy life, and certainly not for those who aren’t willing to fight for those they love. This is however a romance at it’s core, so take heart that no one winds up sad and alone. This is a truly beautiful story that I highly recommend.

The one who comes to him in dreams—and demands his surrender…

A beautiful immortal with extraordinary powers, Havily lives in the realm of Second Earth but, in her fantasies, yearns for her winged lover Marcus. Soon, their bond will be put to the ultimate test. When their bloodthirsty enemies set the night on fire with sky-blazing weapons, Marcus and Havily must unite body and soul, to unleash the full power of their passion—and fight fire with fire…

Review:

The war between good and evil is not going well on Second Earth, and Havily Morgan has a front row seat. As a friend to the men who make up the Warrior’s of the Blood, Havily sees the toll it is taking on these valiant vampires. With a strange new power emerging Havily also sees when their lives are about to be lost. This new ability also leads her into having nightly, dream sex with the former warrior, Marcus, who now resides on First Earth as a successful businessman. Marcus is done with the war and second earth, but he is bound to Havily. When the death vampires target Havily for her unique blood and powers, Marcus has a difficult decision to make.

I absolutely adore this series and I really liked this book. Havily and Marcus were not my favorite characters, however. The story and the continuing battle is enthralling and will completely ensnare the reader. The secondary characters, especially the warriors, are literally the stuff of naughty, erotic dreams. The villains are beyond diabolical and I really want drawn out death for Greaves, he is a true psychopath. My two favorite characters are Endelle, Supreme High Administrator of Second Earth. She is six and a half feet of power and bad temper. She wears animal skins and towering stilettos, cusses like a sailor, and will say whatever crosses her mind in front of anyone and their mother. She is a straight up hoot. My second favorite is Warrior Leto. He is shrouded in mystery, currently under the employ of Greaves, and worst of all, he drinks (shudder) dying blood. Damning, I know, but I think there’s more to this traitor than Ms. Roane is letting on.

Burning Skies is ultimately, Marcus and Havily’s story, so back to them. Both have been through incredibly heartbreaking personal losses, so they are very guarded and closed off. After the death of his sister and her children, Marcus abandoned the war and Second Earth. Havily and the other Warriors considered Marcus a deserter. I had problems with this because he had put FOUR THOUSAND years on the front lines of the battle. His tour of duty had more than been fulfilled. So, I see no reason for ill will. Havily was sweet and a little vanilla for me, and she really enjoyed spending a lot of time in front of a mirror. I don’t think she was vain, too much, and Marcus liked her efforts and stylishness. It just isn’t my thing. Marcus was into the designer fashions as well, so two peas in a pod. It was definitely worth the time and money invested and I am highly anticipating the next book.

On the edge of the Roman Empire, Queen Boudica’s rebellion has ended. A time of great tragedy has passed. Atellus, a Roman magistrate living in Gaul, discovers he’s no longer sympathetic to Rome and must now question every facet of his life.

A cunning Celtic woman with golden-red hair arrives in the slave markets, defiant and angry—a danger to anyone foolish enough to purchase her. As punishment for her willfulness, she is to be offered as a sexual favor to Roman guests at a lavish feast and put to death for their entertainment.

For Atellus, it’s love at first sight. He wants to own her. They embark on an erotically turbulent journey through a lonely Celtic forest. He suspects his beautiful slave is harboring a painful secret and must never again speak her true name. She is Celtic royalty—the last of her kind.

In the heart of the forest, strong-willed lovers clash, fall in love and catch a glimpse of what the future can be if both can learn to trust and forgive.

Review:

Atellus has been in love with Columbia since the moment he met her when they were young. Now he is a Magistrate in Gaul and is ready to win his love away from his cousin Plutonius. Little does he know the adventure that awaits him at his cousins home.

Rutila is a proud and headstrong Celt. She is a princess among her people but to the Romans who have taken her in she is nothing but a slave. Her continued poor behavior has gotten her into a tangle and she is about to be served up as entertainment at the orgy her masters are hosting. That is until a young Roman claims her as his own.

Owned By Rome is a great story. The hero and heroine are endearing while the antagonists are nasty and mean. My favorite character was actually Atellus, his honor and strength just leapt out at the reader.

My only “disappointment” per say is the lack of any real physical conflict. What conflict there was is more internal with Rutila and her internal strife. I did actually enjoy the voyage of self discovery and growth that was well depicted by Ms. Leon.

Owned By Rome is a fantastic glimpse into the ancient world and it is definitely one you want to add to your To Read List.

Slipping through time is the last thing Genia expected to happen when she travels to Greece to work on the expedition dig in the ancient city of Troy.

I have to say that I loved this story. I was unsure what to expect when I started reading Troy – Lovers In The Mists, but what I found were endearing characters and a story that grabbed me from the first chapter.

My favorite character in the story is actually Aunt Thea. She is a strong woman who knows the passion between Genia and Achilles is written in the stars. She is also matter of fact and sets the “kids” straight when needed.

The hero Achilles is a strong man who fights for the woman he loves, no matter what the cost. He is also willing to face the demons of the past in order to be with Genia.

The heroine Genia is a stubborn woman who is determined to figure out why she is having the visions and dreams that have plagued her for some time. She finds her answers and much more in Greece.

Sultry Summers has taken an ancient story and has given it a modern and delightful twist.

Troy – Lovers In The Mists is a fantastic story. The characters are well written and the scenes are vivid and leap off the page. And the ending – WOW what a fantastic finish.

If you are looking for a story filled with Ancient history, the magic of slipping back and forth through time and dastardly bad guys and fabulous lovers then this one is a book You Gotta Read.

But what she feels for him just might be the most frightening thing of all

Review:
I think I'm in love. I first fell in love with the cover. I don't think it can get hotter, can it? Then when I met Dare (I even love the name), I fell in love with his don't mess with me attitude, all the while showing his tender side with Molly. Being a reviewer, I fell in love with the edge of your seat plot line and suspense. And finally when I was finished with the book, I fell in love all over again with the back cover. :)

The characters throughout the book were incredible. I kept thinking, "now this is what a well developed character looks like". Molly was the character that I feel every woman would like to be. She was strong yet showed tenderness. She was smart yet kept an open mind. Yet throughout all her strengths, she was pure woman and had doubts about herself. This one trait made her character so relatable. I was tickled at Molly's occupation as I could relate very well to when she spoke of how you can't please all readers. I must confess that I felt a tiny bit of connection to Lori Foster through Molly's occupation. I kept wondering if Ms. Foster ever had to deal with crazy fans like that.

Now may I talk about the yummiest character in the book? Honestly, you have got to read the book to appreciate all that Dare has to offer. He's like the mercenary I want to wake up to every day. What made him different is yes, he protected Molly, but he was fiercely loyal and protective of his friends as well. He had no problem telling his best friend Chris that he loved him in a macho man sort of way. And speaking of Chris, where can I order one of him? Pretty much Dare's right hand man, he kept every detail of Dare's life in order. His wit and humor had me chuckling throughout the book.

Although this book was 448 pages, it was the perfect length. When You Dare is one of those books that you think about while you're doing your everyday chores. You hurry to finish so you can get back to the book. The attention to the most minute detail just kept me flipping the pages just as fast as I could. I don't want to give any of the book away because it's such an outstanding piece of work and you must read each page yourself. I did not think the suspect would turn out to be who it actually did. To know When You Dare is only the first book in the series had me scrambling to find out what the other books were and when they would be released. The Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor series will be a keeper on my shelves. I can't wait to read the second book, Trace of Fever. Ms. Foster is one of the most talented romantic suspense writers of our time. She certainly has outdone herself with this addicting series.

******Second Review by Wendy*******************

Dangerous situations are no stranger to semi retired private security specialist, Dare Macintosh. A rescue mission to retrieve his partner and best friend’s younger sister, Alani, leads Dare to Mexico and a human trafficking ring, and a huge complication. Dare gets his woman plus one. Molly Alexander is being held with the other women, but she is clearly not being held for sale to the highest bidder. Badly beaten and starved Molly isn’t sure why she was taken or who wanted her tortured. Not sure who to trust, she puts her faith in Dare to find the answers and keep her safe.

This is a decided turn from Lori Foster’s much loved SBC Fighter series, and one I have been anticipating for many moons. Lori’s heroes are always enthralling characters, with well developed and often quirky personalities. Dare is no exception, he has his ingrained habits and faults, but is still a drool worthy alpha male. One thing you do not have to worry about with Lori’s books are running into fungible characters, each one is a unique standout, even down to the pets.

One of the things I love most about Lori’s books, (besides the smoking hot love scenes), are Lori’s heroines. I especially enjoyed Molly. An established romance author (hee hee), Molly is incredibly strong and , praise be, she did not fall into the “let me wander off alone and get recaptured” scenario. A heroine with brain cells that actually work, YAY!!! Not only is Molly smart enough to listen to what experts are telling her, but she also insist on taking personal responsibility for herself. No simpering miss here, she pays her own way and has pride in spades. I loved it!

The story keeps the reader guessing like a good suspense novel should. The developing secondary characters were interesting and added trademark humor to break the tension of the story. I really hope this is not the last we see or hear from Chris, Dare’s gorgeous assistant. He was an absolute doll. I’ll be drooling over Dare’s partner, Trace Rivers, next, and I can’t wait. If it’s half as good as When You Dare, then I’ll be a very happy reader. Be prepared when you start this book to finish it in one sitting, because you will not be able to put it down.
